Highgate United v Solihull Moors Birmingham Senior Cup R1

Highgate United 0 Solihull Moors 0 after 90 minutes.

No extra time in Birmingham County FA competitions so straight to penalties.

Result:

Highgate United 3 Solihull Moors 4.

Daly up front must be the most tragi-comic attacking performance I've seen at Solihull Moors (which is saying a lot considering some of the strikers we've had). He even missed his penalty!

It was hilarious how he was constantly moaning at the midfielders like a world-beater. That said, not that many of the youth players were really showing that much. 7 and 10 looked decent, but the right back was poor.

Sheridan Martinez and Junior English were the heroes of the penalty shoot out.

After Liam Daly had his penalty saved, we were down 1-2 ( Stephen Leslie scored)but then Sheridan did a great save to cancel out Liam's miss and we scored ,making the score 2-2.Then their No 6 blazed over the bar, we scored, they scored.

So it is 3-3 when Junior strove calmly up for the last of the 10 kicks and wacked it, in off the crossbar! Another inch higher and it would have stayed out

But Junior know exactly what he was doing!

Aaron Brown, on our books last season, seems to have found his level.

Someone in the crowd of 170(Quite a lot of Moors fans were there)said No 6 was Aaron Williams. But when he hit the penalty so badly over the bar, I was not sure if that was correct.

But anybody can do it. Remember Omar hitting a penalty high into the stands away to Gloucester City last season!

He did that, at home to Boston 2 seasons ago, as well.

Hi Joel

That great signing from the Ilkeston bench
Jon Douglas ,don't think he was such a good striker as our Liam . To be fair to Mr Daly ,he has been great in defence this season .

Jon Douglas! I'd almost been able to forget.

Credit where it's due to Daly, he and Theo have been a solid partnership so far this term. Let's hope it remains that way and we don't see either of them starting further forward in the league...

Good report of the game, from Ronald Crane,on the Moors Website. The second team youngsters, who Marcus gave the chance to play in this first team game, will appreciate a report like that in such detail.
