Re: Gateshead v Solihull Moors 13/03/2018 updates and (if I can find one) commentary

Just seen the equaliser on Twitter - one of those goals with 2 deflections which could have gone anywhere. Hopefully the team will react in the right way in a massive game on Saturday against Torquay as sounds like we played pretty well and just couldn’t take the chances.

Pretty sure the deflection was off Kyle Storer

Sky sports had it on screen as we were leaving as Daly og 90+4 mins.
But report on BBC later had it as Storer.
Daly did apologize to keeper as he was getting up. Happened so quickly could have been both (how unlucky) will need to watch it back.

Got to put a dampener on this however. As I was trapped in the main stand and found myself surrounded by alot not just a couple of disgusting foul mouths one eyed to a ridiculous extent ba*****s.
One even said we were such ******* (didn't quite hear ) that he hoped the coach crashed on the way home.
I took sanctuary in the directors box then as I felt like sm***ing someone.
As for the poor ref who dared to send off a home player after 12 mins. Well God forbid. When he was changed the [sign in to see URL] the new chap soon was also the enemy. But why was he fiddling with his arm and clothing all the game and why was he wearing an army belt that clearly was annoying him to an extent he could not have been fully focused on the game. He even stopped play to get the lino to adjust his arm thingy for him .he did not look comfortable.

The deflection certainly was off Kyle Storer.

Before the journey last night I would have taken a point against Gateshead and I am not going to change my mind now.

However on the game itself, yes we should have won. We had enough chances to have recorded our highest ever away win, but sadly it looks like we kept some of the goals for this coming Saturday.

Cannot fault the efforts of the players last night, every one of them gave 100%. On another night, Heed would have got an absolute tonking.

On the plus side, we are now only one point adrift from the team above the bottom four. That is the closest we have been since August 8.

If we play as well on Saturday as we did last night, we will smash Torquay, but we cannot be complacent. I would imagine the Gulls have marked the game against us as a "must win" game. So let us make sure we get behind the players from kick off.

Yes, as disappointing as the ending was, in the bigger picture, Gateshead put 7 goals past a mid-table side on Saturday, so a point at their place on a Tuesday night is not too shabby. The overall team performance is just as important as the result - the players will know they bossed that game and would have taken all 3 points if not for an unlucky deflection. The important thing now is to maintain that level of performance on Saturday.

Also, no new injuries or suspensions?

Yates reaction on the Moors website says a lot. Great to see the passion and anger and not willing to accept that. You have to be fired up when you dominate a game and let it slip like that.

Maybe that is the passion that has been missing from the club for a long time. Think that past managers would have glossed over and looked for positives that dont exist.

Think that he said it all. We are too good a side now and in too perilous a position to give soft goals away at the end of games. We used to do that all the time and that was why we are down in the drop zone.

Should be looking for a good response by giving Torquay a spanking at the weekend. Seem to remember that they were outplayed at our place last year and scrambled a draw.
