Re: Tim Flowers

Any managerial appointment is a risk but appointing Flowers mitigates it a lot as he knows the playing staff and will have a good idea what’s needed in terms of recruitment. The connection with Gary Whild wasn’t just thrown together last season either, the pair have been personal friends for a while.

The other added bonus is that Flowers will surely have good contacts in the game at all levels having played at the very top and international level.

The worry for me is that Flowers didn't last very long in his previous first team manager roles - just hope he sticks around longer than Richard Money!

As a Southampton fan, I'm delighted to see an ex-Saint in charge! emoticon

Watched the interview on Facebook and speaks very well and seems very committed to making it work. Also adds that it was a joint effort last year and not just the Mark Yates show. Obviously a lot depends on budget but seems to suggest most of the players they got on contracts after they joined should be back. Off the top of my head:
Williams, Storer, Osborne, Yusef and Thomas. Add in Reckford, Carter, Hylton and Daly and it wouldn’t be a bad start.
