The discounted ticket vouchers in the match day programme are a nice incentive to get people coming back (and also boost programme sales which potentially leads to charging more for advertising space in the programme)

Of course, you need to get people in the ground in the first place for them to buy a programme... perhaps by occasionally putting a voucher for a specific match on the back page of the local Solihull papers to entice new fans in.

Re: Fans forum

I'd be interested to know if they plan to expand the range of branded merchandise beyond clothing. It's a potential income stream in itself and it also raises the profile of the club. The "Moor than eleven..." slogan is a catchy marketing tool and the club has developed a distinctive image, with the colour scheme, font/lettering, etc.

I assume there are companies out there who handle that sort of thing for smaller clubs.

It would be handy if someone could print off this thread and raise some of these points at the forum. Even better if someone could film the forum (or at least record the audio) for the benefit of those like myself who can't make it.

I used to have a Solihull Moors mug back in the day. I agree that if you stick a club crest and a slogan on most things, someone will want to buy it.

I think he could have phrased the "building a fanbase from scratch" comment better. Doesn't exactly show a great deal of respect for the current regulars who have been the making of the club for the past eleven years.

About increasing gate receipts:

I would be interested to know whether the club given any concessions to certain employees of local companies?

I know I have seen an armed forces discount somewhere?

I work in the Police, and talk about the Moors to my colleagues - trying to get them down the auto tech to support the moors.

Most seem interessted until I tell them the ticket price which they find steep in the current climate.

Has the club ever though of contacting the Police Federation / West Midlands sports and social club to do an official offer? Its also free advertising too as it goes out on emails to the whole force and also on their website. It doesnt have to be much discount, but every little helps and may encourage people to attend? You would be surprised as to how many of our police personell reside in Solihull and the outskirts!

Also, is there anything to encourage the workers of the huge factory that is situated next dooor to the ground to attend?

Dont get me wrong, I will happily pay £15 a game - but even sometimes I have had to miss out becuase I am short one month.

Just food for thought for Darryl I suppose? The board however may have different feelings!

Very good ideas 10/10...

Particularly for the employees " working in the factory " , next door !!! - Makes perfect sense and Land Rover is a Brand Leader.

I dont think he meant it that way. I think it was more like if he was taking over a club such as Aston Villa or Blues (or even when he took over at Oxford), there were may disgruntled fans who had not been for years to see their team. The first attempt to increase the fanbase at those clubs to get their old fans back as they have an affiliation to that team. Then you work on getting brand new fans in.

With us, he is aware that we had some difficult years but the last three seasons have been successful in that they achieved their aims (Promotion / Survival / Survival) and as such we do not have a high number of fans that we can entice back as they have not really left us. As such it is possible "new" fans we need to make aware the club is here and then to get them to the club.

Well, that is owe I saw it.

Plenty of clubs do a booklet of 5 or 10 match tickets for a set price per game, you’re free to pick and choose what matches you attend then.

Great idea !.

Well Done 10/10.

My Employer turned around failing McDonald's and Ladbrokes , amongst others, on their " footfall " , coming through their doors...

Lost customers and existing customers were interviewed , on what improvements, " they " Would like to see implemented, for repeat business.

Let's hope Market Research , in a constructive , cost effective way , can indeed increase the Moors Fan Base.

Maybe the Solihull Observer / Birmingham Mail (on line / paper edition ) could come into play here.
