The MOTM award process, think went to Danny yesterday, is another example where the club no longer encourage players and staff to mix with supporters. No idea who gains from a presentation in the Boardroom.

Bring back the days when the players were required to be in one of the bars until 6pm and Statto announced MOTM, asked 2 or 3 quality questions and a youngster handed over 6 pack of Bud or any bottle gathering dust behind the bar.

Oh hang on, we've gone professional, time to generate a gap between players and wage payers !!

Well done Liam and Kyle for being the exception, who sit with family and friends in the middle bar and arechappy to chat with anyone.

100 percent agree. Cuz we have gone professional players and staff dont seem to want to mix with supporters no more. I seen tim flowers walk into the bar last night to use the toilet as he come out he couldnt wait to get out of the bar. As people were trying to speak wiv him.

Up to a point I agree that there is a PR fall off with the fans, but Tim Flowers and the players are not public property and if they don't want to answer questions I see that as their right.

Do we need an alternative vote on MotM for home games, perhaps on this forum?

With reagrds to the Man of the Match which was run after games, we was able to do this as we had it sponsored, firstly by Cucina Kitchens and then later by SevenOneZero.

At the time, the manager (Marcus) made it a ruling for all the players that they had to stay at the club until 5.45pm so it meant it was very easy for us to do the presentation with the Man of the Match still being there.

When Liam McDonald came in he was not aware of a ruling, but after it was explained that we had a sponsor in place, he reintroduced the ruling for players to stay until this time.

However, when Richard Money came in, he implemented his own players rules as did Mark Yates when he took over. Neither saw it as a requirement that the players should stay until a fixed time. It then got embarrassing the fact that we would do a Man of the Match award and the winner would not be there.

There is nothing to stop us doing a Forum Man of the Match on here with voting lasting up until 24 hours after the match finishes (just a suggestion). We did it before so why not again?

Fildes - Regarding your comment about Tim Flowers wanting to get out of the bar, maybe he still had people in his office but needed a quick toilet break ? The coaching staff were only just coming out of their meeting with Tim, in his office, when I left about 6.45pm, which was after you had gone.

Can we bring back the days where marcus was here when all players staff and management were all in the bar after the game mixing with the supporters most players back then if i remember were their until way after 6pm. They just go straight away now. Even when liam was here last season the players were coming into the bar. No 1 bothers now apart from a couple. ( liam and kyle)creates a better atmosphere around the place. Last night at 5 45 the place was near enough empty

Re: Solihull 4-1 Eastleigh

I think those days are well and truly gone, Fildes. Clubs at this level and above aren't going to want full time pros hanging around boozing with fans after the game. They're paid to be athletes 7 days a week, it's not the same as part-timers being part of a small community of 300 or so supporters and playing for a bit of extra cash on the side.

I'm keen on the idea of a forum MoM, and am happy to organise. We could even have it done through a separate online form so that people don't have to be registered on the forum to vote. Have it publicised in the programme, over the tannoy, on the radio, etc.

If we get a sponsor we can then start giving out a prize to the players.

Here is a simple example I've just knocked together in 2 minutes using Google.

I can do a bit of research and see what platforms are out there that might make it a bit more flashy, but even something as simple as a Google Form like that would do the job.

I used to run a forum MOTM which led to a forum Player of the Season, for which I funded a Player of the Season trophy. I was asked to give that up when Cucina Kitchens offered sponsorship as it was felt that two similar competitions were unnecessary. Sponsorship is important to the club but I see no reason not to reinstate a supporters' MOTM leading to a supporters' Player Of The Season if sponsorship could be found. Perhaps the Supporters' Association could approach some of their contacts in the local community to sponsor such a competition, which would not be costly and would also engage supporters in a positive way.

Can genuinely see both sides of the argument on this one. Understand and appreciate that the players have their MoM commitments with the sponsors in the boardroom after the game nowadays but there was definitely a closer bond between the players/supporters when we did the old fans version. I’m not expecting to see seasoned pro’s like Danny Wight to be getting rounds of carling in at the members bar at 5:15 on a Saturday and I know that some will have quite a distance to travel to get home, but I can understand some fans being a bit disgruntled that we seem to have lost that connection. For example I spoke to Ozzy on Saturday for the first time in literally years as he was chilling (with a lemonade) in the concert room after the game. We discussed what looked like a nasty tackle on him and he cleared it up as a genuine attempt to get the ball by a player with no malicious intent whatsoever. Even when players were compelled by Bignot to stay until 6 very few would be boozing but two way conversations between players/fans were a lot more frequent.

Support whole heartedly what the new owners are doing at the club, one of the best things about them seems to be their transparency and willingness to listen to constructive comments, not just pay lip service to them. Don’t have the answer on this one but there may be a simple compromise where maybe every month we do the player of the month presentation in the members bar and get the supporters association involved? The main attraction for me (and potentially many others) to football at this level was accessibility in its many forms, It’s local, cheaper, a good standard with just as much excitement and access to the players. Having the ability to have a quick chat and mingle with the players after the game helps hugely towards creating a more community feel around the place creating a sense of us all pulling in the same direction rather than us and them. Put succinctly you could sum Solihull Moors up as being about “Moor than eleven”
