Re: Chorley v Solihull Moors 13/08/2019 updates and commentary

I agree with the above. Don't think this result necessarily reflects badly on Chorley; we were just utterly rampant. No team at this level could have dealt with the way our team played tonight.

The hat trick from Blissett was a case in point: three goals from inside the six yard area, purely because we had such dominance that we could put balls into that area time and time again and expect to find players open and with enough speed and awareness to tuck the ball away. Wright's goal was very similar.

The first touch from McCallum for the opener said everything about why he top-scored in the division last year. Pure class to leave the defender for dead and then an emphatic finish. Excellent penalty in the second half (blatant foul on Osborne to win it), too.

Our midfield took the game by the scruff of the neck early on. Any loose balls, or even long, low passes - regardless of how accurate - were gobbled up, and the midfield three moved the ball incisively, with the runs of Hawkridge and Osborne causing all sorts of problems for Chorley time and again. The assist from Ozzy for Danny's goal was absolutely superb. He ran around their entire defence unimpeded before lifting it up on a plate for Wright to thump home with his head from no more than a couple of metres.

The wing backs were again an excellent and unrelenting attacking threat, and the constant pressure from the front two on the Chorley back four - on and off the ball - forced mistake after mistake from the home side.

Stenson also looked excellent again as a sub. Here's hoping the injury to his ankle is just a sore one rather than a serious issue.

Shout out to the ref tonight for a masterclass in how to steadily lose control of what should've been a relatively straightforward game. Inconsistent, inconclusive, inept. I don't go in for specific criticism that often, but I thought he was poor tonight. When you're missing blatant rugby tackles, that's not good form.

10/10 for a ruthless, entertaining performance from Solihull Moors - the best game I have seen them play.

Tim Flowers was correct in saying ' there is much more to come from the players ', after Harrogate , Torquay and Aldershot.

Top of the National League and long may it continue.

I'm absolutely buzzing I was jumping up and down at work. What a result against a good side.

Top of the league. We are in dreamland at the moment.

And Joel the ref must of been bad if ur moaning about him. Although who cares because we won

Great result and a real statement to the rest of the league that we've picked up from where we left off last season.

Any ideas why we didn't play in our "away" kit last night? Will we only wear that if our "home" kit clashes with the home team's kit?

Agree 're ref getting worse. He seemed to be strict on the avalanche of fouls against Ozzzy early on but by the end he was letting defenders kick lumps out of him. How the number 3 was not even carded yet alone sent off for his late assault on Ozzzy beggars belief, it caused a 16 man kerfuffle which saw a solitary yellow.....to Hawkridge !?

A superb show from a relentless team also non stop singing from a good Solihull contingent, very loud and very good. Many new songs by our song master Mr Satherswait or whatever.

Everyone could have had MoM. Didn't know Bliss had won it but one man was head and shoulders , Ozzzy had to be it. Fouled 743 times, created countless attacks. Wow can we keep hold of him now he's signed a new contract. Wow. Daly also for his creation of at least two of the goals his pre planned dummy run and header for the second was sublime and his header off the post for the fifth I think.

Cannot in fairness leave out anyone including Stenson and Wright the two subs, Hawkridge and Vaughan combination great. Gudger and Boot . Million dollar man McCallum. Storer etc etc...

Honestly M6 traffic jams be blowed, I'm not missing watching this team play, nor should anyone , !!!!!!

The number 3 Blakeman was carded before Hawkridge was shown the yellow

Right, I saw he was carded in the game, but I thought must have been earlier in game the way he just stood there next to lino the whole time like he was told to wait for the ref to regain control before speaking to him. That was odd then !

I think the kit answer to this is yes , the home kit will prevail , unless an outright clash of colours , at away games.

One of the topics of conversation on the Supporters Coach, last night was the away kit top can look like a ' beauty ' pageant - beautiful football played by Solihull Moors, more like !!!.

Moors played so well last night , that one Moors supporter ' split ' his denim jeans * , in the excitement . ( True fact ), in the first half.

That is why it is vital , not to go ' commando ' ( no underpants ) , when Moors are playing.

Lol.
