Re: Full details of our European adventure...

Put me in the miserable old gits column !!

This is a big distraction from the serious stuff...doing well in the league. It's an opportunity for more injuries, and tired legs from massive coach trips.

If it was a competition run instead of pre-season friendly matches, then it might have made some sense.
Is there a reciprocal arrangement?...are Aberdeen regarded as being English for the purposes of the FA cup?!

Part of Rule 4.6 of the competition :-
...............
In all Matches other than the Semi-Finals and Final, if the scores are equal at full-time or no goals have been scored the winner shall be determined by taking Penalty Kicks.
...............

So we shall get a result tomorrow, no replay, and indeed not even any extra time. If scores equal at the end of normal time then we go straight to penalties.

Don't see why not. Connah Quay Nomads from the Welsh League got to the final last season, and it did not do their season any harm as they qualified for Europe in the end.

Things ran Connah's Quay. They were lucky to beat a very poor Falkirk and struggled to overcome 4th tier Edinburgh City on penalties on their own ground. In the Final they were outplayed by Ross County in the second half.

I would suppose a Conference side should see off Connah's Quay most days. Whether you can win it I think depends on the teams you draw and what kind of teams the bigger clubs decide to put out.

Of course a 50% chance of being drawn at home, but still a chance we shall be away at somewhere like Elgin City, who knocked out Dundee yesterday, an even longer journey than on Saturday.

Personally, I would love Moors to be at home to Partick Thistle, for personal reasons I shall not relate here.

No it was not Connah's Quay who got the bye. East Fife got a bye after their game at Bohemians got called off less than 10 minutes before kick off and the Irish team could not rearrange a date for the new match.

I'm pleased that the club is taking part in this competition and is taking it seriously. I think it's exciting for the club and also for the players.

On a practical level, whilst two of our first choice strikers are out injured, I think it suits our purposes to delay playing league games until they are back and ready to play.
