Beware: Getting off at New Street and walking to Moor Street you may be tempted to go to the German Xmas Market along New Street itself and up to the Town Hall. Overpriced German beer and food and lots of stollen, and ham baps. Instead get a pack of something from Tesco Express or a burger elsewhere and visit The Wellington on Bennett's Hill where you can try 15 Real Ales plus several ciders, and they allow you to eat your own food brought in with cutlery provided.
Good place to drown your sorrows afterwards as well.

Ah yes , The Wellie.

Excellent real ale pub ! ( no loud music ). You will come across ex British Rail employees, with very long sideburns and ex ITV Tiswas employees , harping on about gorgeous Sally James was, particularly when her tight T shirt got really wet !!!. ( dont worry The Phantom Flan Flinger will not be there , but Spit the Dog , maybe ).

If you want to go into true WURZELS ' Somerset Cider ' mode ' , The Post Office Vaults, with at least 50 different ciders , is not a million miles away , by Victoria Square , in New Street.

You could always walk from Birmingham City Centre to Moor Street and get a train to Solihull ( check how long this takes / how many stations )

8 minutes with no other stops on Chiltern, as we've established.

You might love the International route for some reason, but the rest of us are trying to give useful advice here.

I've come to the conclusion that he can't read.

The WCML is fraught with delays most of the time and if his precious virgin penolino gets stuck behind a local train on the route it'll be held at New Street or have to go slowly anyway.

Why? Someone who is on the concourse at New Street Station, and who follows the signs to Moor Street Station, they will be nowhere near the German Market.

Just a short walk, through the tunnel, well covered area, under the shops.

There is not just one exit to New Street Station!

Correct - there are in fact 85, and I still don't know which of the feckers is which.

Chiltern Railways generally has longer travelling time on weekends , from Moor Street to Solihull.

In essence, if you arrive direct into New Street , it is simply easier keeping to the same station !.

Also , most Birmingham City centre pubs are nearer to New Street , than Moor Street.

If Solihull pubs are more your cup of tea ( no pun intended ), Moor Street to Solihull is the better option.
