A great win today against an imposing and physical team who we have always previously struggled to beat. We’ve played a lot worse sides than Fylde at home this season and lost (Eastleigh being one) and they certainly didn’t look like a side hovering just above the relegation zone , particularly when they were slicing through our defence with ease in the second half. I was slightly surprised that Ozzy was made MoM, as his touch and passing vision on his return from injury wasn’t quite up to his usual high standards, but then again he did make one assist and win the penalty, so perhaps I’m being slightly harsh on him!?

Thought the way he won the penalty for the first goal was fantastic.
James Ball has been a really good signing. Similar build to Luke Maxwell. Need to get Jake Beesley signed permanently. The team is starting to look really good.

Re: Solihull 3-1 Fylde
Echo your sentiments bar one my friend, yes Balls tall, leggy and good brain but Maxwell, hes a monster. As big as Daly, I've seen him aside him. He could well be a problem when fit, where do you play them all !!

Re: Solihull 3-1 Fylde
Seemingly only in minor cup games, according to our current rotation policy.

Agree 100% on the impact of James Ball and also the importance of signing Jake Beesley. He always works tirelessly on and off the ball, and offers so much more attacking pace and flair than both Blissett and Yusuff for my money.

Re: Solihull 3-1 Fylde
Yusuf looks well down the pecking order now. Beesley has been very impressive since joining, Wright is Mr Consistent, McCallum is getting back to the form he was in before injury and Blisset is now back in contention. We're going to have a similar embarrassment of riches in midfield once Maxwell is back: Storer, Gunning, Ball, Osborne, Hawkridge, Maxwell, Neufville, Carter, Hancox... that's a great pool of talent to tap into. Granted some of those are on short-term deals but you'd hope they could be persuaded to stay until at least the end of the season. Defence is the only area we look a bit light, especially with Daly's departure. Only Tyrone Williams is an obvious choice to play centre half if Howe or Gudger is missing. Wouldn't be surprised to see some cover brought in there in the next few weeks.
Good result yesterday against a bogey team. Pity we didn't put them to the sword after we went 3-0 up so early, would love to have seen us put 5 or 6 past them (like Dag & Red did yesterday against Aldershot) to make a real statement. We seemed to take the foot off the pedal at 3-0 which allowed Fylde to grow in confidence and show that they're a decent footballing side once they get going.
Still, 3 more points towards the 50 point survival target!

We absolutely must keep Beesley and Gunning until the end of the season!

Re: Solihull 3-1 Fylde
I like Gunning, he brings bite and composure to the midfield.
