Re: Relive your Solihull Moors away days from this season
Continuing the theme of Solihull Moors away days from this season, what was the best goal you saw scored away from home?

Darren Carter's winning Penalty in the shootout at kelty.
Rekindled memories from the 01/02 season.

Favourite away ground for me is Chesterfield, edging out Notts County.
Best performance. Toss up between Chorley and Stockport County.
Best goal. Jamey Osborne free kick against Dover Athletic.

Restating the free kick by Jamie Osborne at Dover. It could not have been a couple of millimetres higher or to the left otherwise it would have hit the bar or upright.
Oxford City scored a deecnt goal against us. Forget the scoreres name.

As far as stadiums go it’s probably Chesterfield, although there is so much more to an away day than just the ground.
Chesterfield, apart from the pub, is largely terrible. Notts County is a much better day and a very good stadium too.
My favourite would be Chorley, and you could have a cracking day there on the train and the beer. Can’t beat a good northern away day.

Agree that the away day is more than just the ground. Chesterfield edged it for me as for Notts County I had to go straight from work.
Before the fixtures come out I was hoping for Chorley, Stockport and Notts County to be Saturday games just to make a whole day of it. Typical, they were all midweek games.

Re: Relive your Solihull Moors away days from this season
Happy Easter to everyone.
So today's question about this season's away day highlights, gets to the nitty gritty of a good day out following the Moors.
What was your favourite watering hole this season?
In recent years my favourite place for a pre match tipple as been the Cameron's brewery tap in Hartlepool. Other highlights for me have been the Three Pigeons pub in Halifax and the Derby Tup in Chesterfield.
This year however I discovered two new places, whilst both didn't serve beers to the standard of the afore mentioned they both provided a pleasant environment before a game.
First up was the Royal Oak in Dover. A friendly place that did a great homemade burger and pint deal for £7, which I consider a bargain when that far south in the country!
My second choice was the Horse and Jockey in Wrexham. Having managed to avoid the temptations of the Wrexham Wetherspoons, if you are familiar with it you will know what I mean, I and a few other hardy souls came upon a small pub at the bottom end of the town centre. Once the locals got over the shock of English people in their local they eventually stopped staring! But the highlight for me was the good company and I particularly enjoyed discussing world war two military campaigns with our resident WWII expert the Bard! Our conversations were only interrupted by his frequent visits to the bar to purchase several of the local pasties that were on offer at just £1 each!
So a couple of really good days out this season, so let's hear your memories.

All pubs near grounds in this league pale in comparison to the Stalybridge Station Buffet Bar.

Thought it was a great little pub we went to before Dover game. Friendly and nice atmosphere. For more mainstream last away day before all this in Blackpool and the rather excellent Fylde sports bar

Going back to my favourite ground. I'm avoiding all former league grounds. I still love those grounds you can mingle and change ends. Maidenhead has my vote. Reasonably close, near pubs and really old type of ground
