Re: Golden Age
Sorry, come to this a bit late.
Mine would be late 80’s/early 90’s – despite getting into NL in the early 80’s, Merthyr in their charge and shortish stay conference. Remember some corkers (and crap!) games against the like of Bromsgrove and Stafford (Rovers, respectively). And them ‘orrible one-eyes in T******h and the Pitmen from the north of the county (especially when Fat Johnny Baldwin was in charge!). Despite living in the Midlands some brilliant clubs and times – believe me, the Conference these days is a totally different beast to 30-odd years ago. Not saying better or worse, just different. I also enjoyed that time visiting may NL midlands clubs – Halesowen (the Yeltz always a favourite), Paget Rangers, Bloxwich (remember them!), Bod St Mikes, Sutton Coldfield Town (didn’t they have an early plastic pitch?)… the list goes on!
Couple of points:
• Roj – remember Big Bob played for the mighty Martyrs. Lovely bloke. No pace (at that time) but such skill and vision. Its probably his fault I chose the round ball game! And 70 – come on, add a few decades mate!
• Moor5 – can you please confirm with Roj that spectator sport didn't really exist before the 1850s?!
• Crow – I betcha were a sight to behold in your youf!
• Alexes Dad – I think Quincy is the funniest programme on TV!
Happy daze!

No, no and thrice no, Sire Martyr, you are mistaken. The accolade for the funniest programme on TV belongs to the incomparable 'The Love Boat'. Oh! the amount of Y Fronts I got through!

Re: Golden Age
Martyr, I think you'll find it was Bromsgrove Rovers and Stafford Rangers, but I can't work out T******h at all. Visited all mentioned and many more, as no doubt you have, too.
--- What a looooooooooong strange trip it's been

Never watched it but that was my thought, too.

Hmmm...I meant about wetting myself due to the hilarity of the jokes - both verbal and visual, but now you come to mention it I did have a thing for Lauren Tewes at the time

Re: Golden Age
The funny (and I use the term loosely, like Roj does with facts!) thing about the Love Boat is the number of people on it who went on to be famous. Looks like it was a right of passage for TV/Movie stars starting out in the Late 70's!
And if you like that guff Mr Dad, you should try out Forces TV!!!
Ojive - good spot. One of the consequences of this eternal working from home is the amount of alcohol one consumes each evening. In terms of the Team who will not be named, they have a bunch of one-eyed so-called fans and play at the Lamb about 25 or so miles from us.
