Re: Next Season's Squad
I would guess the man himself probably doesn't know at this stage. Totally dependent on the playoffs, considering Barnet's finances.
Him being on our retained list suggests there's been no activation of the clause by Barnet yet. As said above, doesn't mean it can't/won't happen, just that it hasn't yet.

Re: Next Season's Squad
So Boot has signed a 1 year contract extension. Good news.
That takes us up to a grand total of 10 players for next season. Anyone know any rumours of anyone else coming in/other contract extensions being signed?

Re: Next Season's Squad
I think that unless they have other plans or have already signed elsewhere, I would also be looking to re-sign Terry Hawkridge and Jamie Rekord.
Might be nice to see if Jemain Hylton were available. Lets face it.... Motherwell isn't too big a step up from Solihull.

Re: Next Season's Squad
Tyrone Williams with another 1 year deal. Option for a further year too.

Re: Next Season's Squad
Ryan Boot re-signing for another season is the best news I’ve heard in a very loooong time. Must say I’m slightly ambivalent about Tyrone Williams staying with Moors, as despite his versatility I would have preferred to have seen Lee Vaughan retained.

I suppose it depends if Tyrone will play at right back or centre half.
Please that both Boot and Williams have put pen to paper.

Re: Next Season's Squad
I am happy with Tyrone Williams staying.
Big imposing player who always looks a threat when he goes forward.
Others may disagree but I think that defensively he was ok as well. Maybe not as good a crosser as Vaughan but offers an aireal threat.
Maybe we need a right sided midfielder or winger to provide the crosses.

Re: Next Season's Squad
I also am ambivalent about Williams and always have been. He is OK at this level and standout performances from him are few and far between IMO. To me he always has this Bambi on ice fair to his running which doesn’t inspire me with confidence at all.
He is perfectly acceptable for the role he plays, but he is not the man for that position to help us kick on in the future in my ill-informed and humble opinion.

Re: Next Season's Squad
If this was in Football Manager 2020 on the PC, Boot would be a "key player" and Williams would be a "back up". Williams isn't as good as Lee Vaughan at right back or wing back and always looks more comfortable at centre half (but nowhere near as good as Howe or Gudger) Totally agree with the "Bambi on ice" comparison, he is one of those footballers who doesn't look comfortable in possession of the ball. We'll need better quality at right back than Williams if we're serious about challenging for promotion.

Re: Next Season's Squad
Agree with those who see Williams as a squad man. Not a bad player for the level but not the kind of player you'd immediately think of as a key man for a tilt at League 2.
