Droylsden FC

Droylsden have announced their resignation from the Northern Premier League due to the current financial situation they find themselves in.

Never the best supported club, they did well to reach the top tier of non league football a few years back, but since then they have fallen down the football pyramid.

We had many good encounters with Droylsden over the years and a shame to see another club close down. More clubs to follow.

You beat me to it statto.
Very sad news.
No doubt more clubs will follow.

Meanwhile in the premier league the likes of Manchester city and arsenal are paying millions for new players that are average at best. Whilst making their staff behind the scenes redundant.

Its utterly disgusting. The games gone.

A shame, but as Statto says "More clubs to follow.".

I think I might have attended :-

https://www.skysports.com/football/droylsden-vs-solihull-moors/stats/266939

-: travelling on Statto's minibus. It could not have been any later than that as Droylsden were relegated at the end of the 2012-2013 season.

That was indeed our last visit there. That was when Marcus made his debut as a player for us.

Their signing Willian from chelsea on 100k a week wages. They want coutinho. They have gave aubameyang a new mega money contract. They have ozil on 350k a week but yeah let's get rid of the staff behind the scenes.

The efl leagues 1 and 2 are introducing a salary cap next season.

Why cant the premier league do this? If clubs like Manchester city who have connections with droylsden actually helped the little clubs out instead of splashing millions and millions on players that will be nowhere near the 1st team. Then clubs like droylsden would be alright.

It's a utter disgrace.

The Premier League will always struggle to being in a salary cap whilst teams will play in the Champions League. The fear is that if you put a domestic cap on the top six or seven then they will try and form a European League.

Manchester City have helped out non league before when they literally saved Hyde United but agreeing a three year deal for their reserves to play there.

Don’t see why big teams always get a bashing when smaller clubs have mid-managed their finances. By all means it would be great for Manchester City to send down their first team for a pre season friendly to Droylsden, but how long would it keep them going for? Droylsden should have cut their cloth accordingly before. Having no income for three months as obviously hurt them, so maybe they should have done what Vauxhall Motors did a few years ago and dropped a few divisions.
