Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!
Good Luck, Dales, you made the right decision for the right reasons, family comes first every time so a heartfelt goodbye to a top man, and a top player with a "run through brick walls" attitude, your commitment to the cause, playing on whilst suffering from painful rib and foot injuries, is appreciated by all and sundry, as well as your on field leadership. Thanks mate, from an old hippy, it's been a gas, man.

Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!
Although I'm gutted that Big Dales has left The Moors, I wish him all the best in his new adventure and I would welcome him back at the ATG at any time and in whatever capacity.
Liam, if you read this, good luck mate and remember...I know where you live!

Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!
Sorry to see him go, however Statto is bang on. When you've been watching NL as long as I have, it goes with the territory. Not to imply that Players are money grabbing - however, they are skilled at what they do, and therefore are entitled to maximise their income. Plus, one bad challenge could end it all.
Nor is it necessary a sign of lack of ambition. Merthyr have to contest with the LoW, which seems cash rich at the moment. That said, the standard has improved markedly. The reformed Hereford - or Merthyr Reserves as we call them - are currently splashing the cash. They have the clout in terms of fan base, sponsorship, infrastructure, etc to do it. They have taken about half-a-dozen of the current Martyrs squad. I'm sure we did the same when we reformed. I'm not saying the current ownership do or don't have ambition - I've no idea. Simply, its the way of the world, so Live with it!
Kiddy are still an established name, despite falling on difficult times. Unless they do a Worcester they'll be back - hopefully (for them) stronger.
Personally, in my career (not to Roj - that's what people in the real world have to do to earn money, not being a drain on the economy faffing around showing young girls how to make misshapen cigarette bowls!) I've joined smaller organisations that offered me more money. As Gurd proves - size isn't everything!
Sermon over.

Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!
Cigarette Bowl? Have you thought of patenting this creation Martyr?
Despite this rather silly invention I was however interested in the problems Merthyr have had, fishing in a small pond like Moors have to for players. I know that at one time there was a Football League club in that town; are the present team a reincarnation, playing at the same ground?
Returning to Liam Daly. I am pleased he will make the most of his skills and wish him good luck. It seems that Kiddie are moving forwards again, and I am pleased that is happening.

Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!
I don't think that anyone blames Liam Daly for this decision. He has to do what's best for himself and his loved ones. Most of us would do exactly the same.
I think it just came as a shock, since has beensuch a good player for us over the last few seasons - talismanic on the pitch - and was announced as having signed for the season. I don't think many people would have expected that he was only on non-contract terms, but if that was his preferred choice, there is nothing the club could do.
I hope he has a great season for Kiddy - both he and they deserve to be playing at this level rather than below.

Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!
Liam was in my opinion the most popular player at the moors. The reason for this was his get stuck in and never say die fearless attitude, and his leadership skills. The amount of replies on this post proves how much the fans liked him.Liam had to make the right decision for him and his family, although personally I believe he could make the step up to league football as he has improved every season and was our stand out player last season, and without doubt one of the best centre halves in the national league.Although he's a massive loss lets remember we played the last few games without him, with some good results. What our players need to do is take Liam's attitude into our games if they can do that we will have a good season.
