But there seem to be no belief in second half. Not enough pressing and urgency for me. The result was poor, but enjoyed my day out and first away trip with the moors, slightly over indulged on beer!! But the locals were friendly and the moors fans I spoke to were also. Obviously not there so my comments are as useful as wet bog paper but if the team was as poor as the commentary was, we are in for several severe beatings this season.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ojiveojive)Sun, 13 Aug 2017 08:48:25 +0000 Re: Boreham Wood v Solihull Moors 12/08/2017 updates and commentaryhttps://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p32953,from=rss#post32953https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p32953,from=rss#post32953Bit soon to be pressing the panic button, Pre season team looked really good. We seem to be missing a few of those players. Also sure that the deflation of the opening day stalled any momentum and optimism that we had. Got work to do now to try and rebuild confidence. Also need to get some points on the board just in case we get docked any. Maybe the relegation battle starts now. Need 46 points as soon as possible. Seems a long way off at the moment. Few comments about Kellaher. Not sure he is. Dont remember seing him in pre season. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Boris1963)Sun, 13 Aug 2017 08:42:47 +0000 Re: Boreham Wood v Solihull Moors 12/08/2017 updates and commentaryhttps://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p32952,from=rss#post32952https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p32952,from=rss#post32952Good points raised by Moor5 and Widnes a long season ahead of us. The football today - or, by now, yesterday - was not quite as bad, but for our level was abject. You can moan at Benbow, but last season he was two levels below, not a lone striker, and not expected to win headers against defenders twice his size to keep his team moving. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it should be obvious that it was never going to be an easy step up for him or anyone else, especially coming into a team not playing to their strengths. He obviously has raw technical ability but stick him up front alone against Boreham Wood and their carefully assembled squad of giants and it ain't gonna happen. We were actually ok - "prosaic" - but ok for the first 31 mins until we scored. After that, everything collapsed. We were sitting deep against a team of 11 Arnold Schwarzeneggers playing route 1, while playing hopeless hoofball ourselves. It was never, ever likely to work. Our set piece routines are embarrassingly amateur. What is going on with kick offs? We are deliberately giving the ball away while putting an entire flank out of position. That routine needs to be scrapped immediately. The one positive for me from today was that I saw a lot of unfamiliar faces there in the away group. It would've been even better if the new random old man and his grandson hadn't both been able to point out our tactical shortcomings straight away. If some old gimmer and his 10-year-old find our tactics predictable, it's going to be a long season. At least I was lucky enough to be travelling to and from London with a mate who had been watching Burnley spank Chelsea. For many others there was a much longer journey ahead with few other positives to take. Well put Moor5. We were awful yesterday - Kelleher at centre half is so clumsy and slow it's untrue. Why do we keep playing him when we have Cleary on the bench? We then keep our best player from Tuesday on the bench in Kalern Thomas and continue to persist with Liburd. He does try hard but is simply not good enough. Trueman is out of his depth. His positional play is dreadful and decides to come to catch a cross, bottles it and then leaves his goal wide open. What has Vaughan done wrong? He's a far better GK. We then have a captain who doesn't lead the group. I didn't see or hear anything to suggest he was trying to rally the troops - we are going to have some tough times this season and we need a strong leader (like Dales last year) but I can't see Carter being that this year. I'd rather go with Kettle. I don't mind being outclassed but when you get outfought and out enthused and the players have no desire or fight, that's when us fans get irate. The only players who showed that yesterday were Shep, Kettle & Dapo. Some serious changes are needed! Moor5 - the older guy and his grandson aren't new by the way. They sit next to me at home games and go to all away games. They're very nice people and seem to know a bit about football.
