Solihull 1 - 4 Eastleigh
Three goals in a 10 minute spell at the start of the second half condemned Solihull to a home defeat in the final game of the season. On a damp day, a crowd in excess of 1,000 (really?!) saw the season finished equally on a bit of a damp squib.
Despite todays result, surely a big well done to the management team and (revolving door) players for making the last game of the season meaningless, and securing status with a game to play. Personally at Christmas I thought the Moors were dead and buried... As they say, its a funny old game.
For the record, despite a bright start the hosts conceded a goal just after the half-hour mark in the first half, to go in 1 down at half time. And following the 3 goal blitz at the start of the second, it was left to Adi Yussuf to plant a good effort into the top corner with minutes to go.
So, there we have it! God willing, see y'all next season!

Re: Solihull 1 - 4 Eastleigh
Just shows you, you have to be right at it in this league otherwise you get punished, a big disappointment to see some squad players starting the match who clearly aren't good enough, rather a flat atmosphere despite the highs from tuesday night.
Season ticket price increases don't seem to have gone down well either with most we have spoken to.

Re: Solihull 1 - 4 Eastleigh
I seem to recall the final match of last season against the same opponents being a decidedly underwhelming and unmoving experience. Although the result is ultimately insignificant to Moors season overall and shouldn't detract from all the excellent work put in by the team, it's still a great shame not to have ended the great escape on a high. I would have liked to have seen Max O'Leary play in goal for the final time, as his contribution between the sticks this season has been critical to our survival. Martinez certainly didn't inspire much confidence and I have to say that most of the team played as though their minds were already on the beach. Then again in this unseasonably cold and shitty weather, who can really blame them?!

Re: Solihull 1 - 4 Eastleigh
Think was always going to be a tough game for the players to get up for and proved that without a few key players, are aren’t the same side. Plus they were very clinical, with 4-1 being a bit unfair on us I felt. Shouldn’t take away the amazing achievement of staying up and look forward to the signings over the summer and starting all over again next season in the National, which I don’t think any of us expected a few months ago.

Shame for the team not to end on a high, but suppose that the job had already been done.
Treating every game as a cup final since christmas probably took its toll. Bet the performance would have been different if we had still needed 3pts. (See Barrow and Woking both lost anyway).

Re: Solihull 1 - 4 Eastleigh
I thought Mark giving some of the players that had sat on the bench most of the season a start was a good move. I was particularly impressed with Callum Coyle who I think had an excellent game. The squad may be a bit thin but Mark needed to look at the fringe players in order to make decisions over the closed season. For some reason, after conceding against the run of play, it seemed that the ghost of McDoughnut had taken over and we played like we did in the first three months of the season, even arguing amongst ourselves at times. I believe that, given the backing, Mark and Tim could well be leading us towards the play-offs next season, there being more to be excited about than to be concerned about.

Re: Solihull 1 - 4 Eastleigh
Callum Coyle will make a decent career in non league but not at this level, he's too small for a start, you don't get small players in this league it's just too physical.

The kid who scored a hat-trick against us today was hardly Yao Ming. Moors have survived this season by being a big and physical side but it's not the only way to win games at this level. Skilful players stand out regardless - look at Dapo and Osbourne. Neither giants.

Re: Solihull 1 - 4 Eastleigh
Very disappointed with this performance. Fringe players coming in looking for an opportunity to impress the manager and I think Yates was right to give them a chance but he’s now surely realised that every one of those player are useless.
Martinez id advise to just retire as a goalkeeper at any level, utter useless, get rid.
Lait can go too, not good enough.
Coyle good game? If your judgin him as a headless chicken totally out of his depth then yeah, get rid.
Get rid of Reid too, I thank him for scoring a couple of important goals for us but I can’t watch a grown man bottle the physical side of the game like he does. Physicality wise I wouldn’t play him in an under 8s girls team.
