The only other club in a similar position to us I can think of is potentially Gateshead. Wigan is completely different. They’re the only club in their town, Manchester and Liverpool are 15 miles away. The only other localish big team are Bolton but their main competition is with loca rugby league teams. There’re also not exactly a small club and have only achieved grown in the 40 years since they got elected into the Football League and have climbed the league fairly steadily and winning throphies along the way. Further proof that only success on the field will grow crowds. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Psycho Mouse)Wed, 16 May 2018 21:34:29 +0000 Wigan Athletic FC / Solihull Moors FC - Similar Fan Base scenario ?https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p39435,from=rss#post39435https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p39435,from=rss#post39435After thorough Internet research, with the Manchester and Liverpool Clubs , as competition footfall , Wigan Athletic have grown a fan base , which is 90 % local. They have got youngsters hooked at a young age. Does anyone know , how often Moors Management / Players are going into local schools and colleges , to get people following the Club , at a young age ?. I think it is important to attract fresh new blood , whilst people are in their teenage years. This is when they want a real sense of belonging to their local community / comradeship. At the end of the day, Solihull does have its own identity - it is not under Birmingham City Council , to start with.    nondisclosed_email@example.com (WeAreStayingUp)Wed, 16 May 2018 21:19:02 +0000
