Re: Hitchin Match Saturday 10th - TV Matches Announced

You know what, it doesn't matter what I have to say about history and memory, regardless it's still plain shitty that the BBC would move matches to noon on the centenary of the end of Western Front fighting in the First World War.

It's 12.45 not noon.
BT have rights for prime time 230 live kick off over BBC.

Do you not want the £12,500 for just a reporter to be there pitch side at 1245 kick off??

Will Hitchin or Solihull say no were going to turn down £12,500 because someone wants to sit at home and watch remembrance Sunday?

I hope Darren Eales doesnt.

Bring on lowest ranked team in 2nd round.

We're national league now. 3rd round is what we're aiming for now, not a Sunderland away first round.

Catch up people.

1st round is a guarantee nowadays.

Here's to our journey to Manchester United away in 3rd round nowadays, not tinpot Sunderland or Coventry in front of 10,000 people.

Yes , it would be really good to revatilise the Library, at Old Trafford , with some passionate singing 🎶🎤🎵 from Moors Supporters ! , in Round 3.

I like thousands of others will be spending remberance Sunday, watching my children play at 3 levels of under 16 football.

It happens.

Have you never been out the house on a Sunday?

How old are you? That you have never had to be doing anything at 11am on a remberance Sunday before??

If you feel that badly don't travel Hitchin won't miss your ticket money.

N.b likely to be all ticket.
Be prepared to buy tickets from them online as no doubt we won't be selling any from our ticket office 🤣

I'm happy to be covered by the Beeb on Remembrance Sunday, or any other day for that matter. We are in the entertainment business and we work when others are on free time, it isn't disrespectful to kick off an hour and a quarter after the Remembrance Service, life goes on and the fallen would have wished it to go on for them and their relatives, of whom I am old enough to have lost several uncles in the First World War and the survivors in my family would have been overjoyed to have been able to go to a game, rather than a war, living two streets away from Villa Park.

Maybe the hundredth anniversary of the end of fighting on the western front of a war that had huge consequences for the trajectory of the twentieth century isn't a big deal to everyone. That's fine. Personally I think it's a bit bigger of a deal than the average ossified ritual of Remembrance Sunday, which ordinarily I don't take part in, watch - whatever - and wouldn't be on Sunday 11th, Moors or not.

£12500 is nice but ultimately it's a drop in the ocean when you consider our turnover and running costs at this level. But it isn't so much that our game in particular is being moved for semi-TV coverage that annoys me; it's that British society, despite all its bluster about the military and hard-on for an extremely whitewashed version of its own history, would treat Sunday as another meaningless Remembrance Sunday rather than recognise it as anything special. It's hypocritical.

So if I were you, Moorsfan22, I'd wind my neck in. I appreciate you might not necessarily have the same priorities as me. Maybe you could extend the same courtesy and leave out the 'some of us live in the real world' attitude.

Apologies if the above seems a bit harsh.

Not cool to have a double post from the same user condescending to you about what they're assuming you think, based on a one-line whinge.

Sometimes people feel strongly about things for abstract reasons that other people won't necessarily agree with.

I'm going to the Hitchin game regardless of how much I enjoy complaining about things.

Can we leave it at that?

Yes the 12 and a half grand will be welcome but added to the 36 grand for winning would aggregate our FA Cup income up to £73,500 which is not bad in the overall scheme of things. I can't wait to draw Man U away in the third round as I know several people whose loyalties will be sorely tested!

And the £135500 for winning that 3rd round tie at Old Trafford would also come in handy! emoticon

Not to mention the £54000 for winning the 2nd round match.

And of course it's FA Cup runs that really get the neutrals down to the ground to take a look....
