S.M.S.A. NEWS

Gentlemen,
After the [sign in to see URL]. I have thought long and hard about continuing as Chairman, a job I seem to have been voted into only half heartedly. I will, untill those that want to come up with a suitable candidate that is willing to give up his time helping the SMSA. They of course must first become a member, then we get them co-opted onto the committee, etc.
In the meantime I will work for the benefit of you all. I have already made significant progress in my aims to forge closer links with both the Board and the Social club members, in a private meeting.
As you all know if you attended the [sign in to see URL]. we are in the process of paying for the NEW BIG SCREEN in the back room, something I hope will link us to the members of the social club, who do alot of hard work and fund raising to pay for the team we watch.
They look upon us as just football supporters who only turn up for the games. I know thats exactly what we are, but we musn't mind that and we should work together supporting each others social events if we can.
It would be good if any football fan wants to go to the club for any match this summer ( Cup final or World cup) they will be made very welcome...
other news..
I understand Jake Edwards is returning to the [sign in to see URL]. and is in fact having a farewell drink in Solihull with his friends next week.
We also have a fund raiser to help purchase the fireworks in the shape of a CAR BOOT the only one of the year in MAY the 22nd or 23rd, I will confirm.. it starts at 11 ish and will have a pig roast, if anyone has junk to sell please book in your car make some money yourself and help the club funds at the same time. If we as a Association want to donate stuff we could go with a team and sell donations as a way to raise our own funds.
The club had a good Karioke night and this will be repeated, I understand it was great fun, it is the sort of event we could support, as then we might get better support for our next event, probably a RACE NIGHT..
The other news on the FOOTBALL side is that the club are seriously considering a cheap season ticket for juniors so they can watch regularly for very little, a great idea, and my own that serving Armed forces be welcomed as guests at selected games, especially the recovering guys from Selly Oak, and I beleive that will be considered by the Board... Much more to come...
watch this space..

The cheap season ticket/armed forces ideas are great. The club should do all it can to reach out to as much of the community as possible; that's the way to move forward.
