The First Law of Goalkeeping
Get your body behind the ball.
The Second Law of Goalkeeping:
When catching a ball below shoulder height draw it into your body. Do not hold your arms out in front of you as the ball is likely to bounce out and spin off in an unwanted direction either to an opposing forward or, God help us, into the net.
Teach Yourself Football manual 1957.

Re: The First Law of Goalkeeping
After you have sent a copy to the England camp, can you also send a copy to the Algerian keeper,he did a simular thing to Green against Slovenia today. To think I used to moan about some of Craney's bloomers & here we are World Cup keepers making basic errors.
That 1957 teaching yourself football manual was a good idea at that time & at least you didn't have to listen too some loud mouth, coaching all the natural talent out of the kids.
