Ben Siegrist
Formerly of this parish... he can claim a small part in Rangers' coronation, having just shut out Celtic for Dundee United. Well done Ben.

Re: Ben Siegrist
I have good memories of Ben, on loan to Moors from Aston Villa,in our National League North days in the 2015/16 season. He played 18 games for us and made some great saves! In April 2016, Moors won promotion to the National League.
Did not know he played for Dundee United now
.
Thank you for that post. Always interesting to learn about our ex players and which club they are at.

Re: Ben Siegrist
I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole about the football set up in Liechtenstein yesterday after reading about Siegrist and his two stints at FC Vaduz who play in the Swiss top division.
Vaduz’s status in the Swiss league is unusual, even for a club not playing in their own country (like Cardiff and Swansea), as they, and the other 7 Liechtensteiner clubs who all play in the Swiss pyramid, are considered “Guest Clubs” in the Swiss leagues and therefore aren’t allowed to represent Switzerland in European competition should one of them qualify. For example FC Vaduz could win the Swiss premier division and not be eligible for Champions League qualification. It’s not happened yet but it would be interesting to see should it ever occur.
The Liechtenstein FA run a cup competition with these clubs to determine who will take the 1 Europa League spot allocated to Liechtenstein and despite FC Vaduz’s obvious gulf in quality compared to the other clubs they have missed out on qualification a couple of times in the last decade, last time losing to USV Eschen/Mauren from the Swiss 4th division in the final.
Another interesting thing about that tournament is that clubs can enter more than 1 team, such as a reserve or youth squad, and has led to peculiar instances like reserve teams going deeper in the tournament than the same clubs’ first team, or where USV E/M beat their second string team 6-2 in the semi final.

Re: Ben Siegrist
Stamping Grounds by Charlie Connelly is a great read if anyone wants to dive deeper into the strange world of Liechtenstein and football.
