Re: Jamey Osborne going to Grimsby?

Couldn't care less about Asante going but Osborne hurts a little as I'd have liked for him to at least see the season out.

PS can we stop calling it Marcus now, its too endearing.. Its Bignot. I know he did a good job for us but he was a vile man and an egotistical borearse and believe you me he's the type of bloke who would want Moors to fail to stroke that ego...less respect now please.

One of Grimsby's bids was for Ricky Miller at Dover, we all know about him, that was also rejected by Dover

Would you want Miller and Asante?
I too would like to see Osborne see the season out with us, but Asante is replaceable.
Craig Woodley, Martyr isn't he as old as you?

I don't understand why he'd turn down a move to go to a fairly local team in Crewe, only to move to darkest North Lincolnshire.

Crewe decided not to take him as he was similar to others and the budget wouldn't allow such a player

Sterling-James has signed a new deal so hopefully that means he'll be staying (and if not we should get a better deal for him now!)

sucuba...you are totally wrong..he was the managers choice after successful trials and board had given the ok to get him, and no one else.. but he declined as terms werent good enough for him to pack up his job and reallocate north..

I heard it was Jamey's choice not to go to Crewe as well, not their managers.

So let's let hope Grimsby don't offer enough either to persuade Jamey to have to relocate from our beautiful part of the U.K., where he grew up, to the Fishy North!

It is much more than that.

Simply does a part-time footballer want to become a full-time footballer? A huge jump, giving up whatever other job they have.

Now some would very much want to make that move? Others would not dream of it.

A few years ago I think one of our players was a school headteacher, clearly only ever a part-time footballer, who would not think of giving up a good career.

There have been a number of other stories like this. In the late 1980's, Moor Green had a player called Phil Davies who was attracting interest from Wolves, but did not wish to pack in his career in the banking industry. Phil recently turned 50 and is still working for the same bank (higher up the career ladder).

Slightly before Phil was Kim Casey who was a fantastic goalscorer for Kidderminster, once scoring 73 goals in one season. He too did not want to go full time due to his career in insurance.

Re Jamey turning down Crewe/not being offered terms, I do not think anything was ever announced about it, just that he was to remain a Solihull Moors player. Let us hope we are still saying that in February.
