Re: McDonald Out!

Players and for that matter a manager (with limited ability) who step up at least 2 levels can only sustain punching above their weight for so long until found out -even if relegation is avoided this season there must be serious doubts for any better outcome next time out

I don't think booing the team is ever productive, but equally I wouldn't applaud a team that has just nearly shipped 10. When hardcore fans are leaving early, something has gone badly wrong. Applauding despite a 9-0 defeat is sycophantic. Supporting anyone or anything through thick and thin doesn't mean supporting abject failure; sometimes it really is better to tell it like it is.

We weren't expecting to stay in this league when the season started and now here we are with four games to go and we're in a relegation battle. When we lost 6-0 at Harrogate last January, we didn't hurl abuse at Marcus and the players, we applauded them and reminded them of how great they had been this season. Marcus spoke about how this was a turning point in our season.

Two separate points here.

First, it's not fair to hold the club to pre-season expectations when we were mid-table for most of the season. None of us were expecting much in August, but the team proved to be good enough to raise our expectations far above instant relegation.

Second the Harrogate 6-0 was in a very different context; a blip in a season of unprecedented success. This isn't a blip. The last few games, if not weeks (Woking away, anyone?) have been building up to this. It deserves to be recognised for what it is.

I'm not going to offer an opinion on Liam McDonald. There's only so much he can do with inadequate players, and he doesn't set the budget. That said, a few people have suggested that managers with Football League experience were interested in the Moors job post-Marcus. Strange that they wouldn't get a look in.

A day of sporting disappointment for me. This dreadful scoreline is the most shocking, but Blues losing to a sucker goal in injury time (I saw this unfortunately), and Bears following on down at Surrey. I think villa won too. Am I a Jonah for sports teams? Should I stay away from the York game?

Regarding the managers. I think Zola should already be sacked but I am prepared to stick with Liam as it is probably too late to change anything, although if Zola was sacked he might consider coming in as Liam's No2.

I dont think the problem is with the managers or players ability . The fact is these players are part-time and are burned [sign in to see URL] played 5 games in 15 days 18/3/17 - 01/04/17 . they only won once in these 5 games against another part-time team NFU 2-4 . the 4 loss,s were against full time players . Cant see us going full time unless things change .Therefore even if we survive this time . we will struggle towards the end of next season.

Liam should stay at least to the end of the season and we should take stock then wherever we are.

We should not be in this position. We were doing fine and heading for mid table then in the Torquay game suddenly turned into a team of frightened Rabbits.

Had we not given away so many stupid, sloppy comedy goals we would have probably had enough points by now.

Will need to rebuild whether we go down or stay up. Sterling, Brown, White, Shep, Liam D, Kris Green and Danny Lewis apart we have a lot of players that clearly arn't good enough at this level and would probably struggle in the division below.

I agree with Keith 422 regarding the part-time/full time issue.

I had not realised that it was 5 games in 15 days; and the fact that there has been a dramatic loss of form and confidence has to be connected.
A lot of these players have been signed from lower leagues:it remains to be seen how many will stay at this level.

With the benefit of hindsight, there has been far too many changes, in far too short a time scale.
I feel the writing is on the wall, a defeat to York will I think, result in relegation.

Re: McDonald Out!

Come on guys this is not the time to be calling time on the manager. We need to get behind the team on Friday like we do when we play away. It is the same group of players who played Forest Green off the park in the 2nd half so their ability is there for all to see. I agree with other comments it's the no of games they have had to play as part timers in the last couple of months coupled with the injury and suspension of key players at key times. It was evident on Saturday that we sorely missed Liam at the back, we certainly do not have good enough cover and the club must recognise this fact if we manage to retain our status in the conference. Our support on Saturday was fantastic and we must create a superb atmosphere against York and get right behind the team. Survival is still in our hands and a win against York who admittedly have found some form in recent games will go along way to us staying up.

Liam should stay until the end of the season but i dont think he will because he must be thinking (we have lost our last 5 and we have just got smashed 9-0 maybe its me thats getting it all wrong.) if we get beat comfortably against york he may go.

When your losing games hand over fist, playing the kind of dross football we are playing with the dross players he has [sign in to see URL] in a pathetic 9-0 defeat, then it is time to call on the manager to [sign in to see URL] is it time otherwise.

We won't stay up because of Liam McDonald, we will in spite of him if he [sign in to see URL] there is really nothing to lose by ridding [sign in to see URL]'s out of his depth

The same dross football and the same dross players who beat Chester home and away convincingly, Bromley away, North Ferriby away and played FGR off the park second half only to be defeated by the last kick of the game.

We are all disappointed about Saturday and the players will probably be the most disappointed and hurt. I agree this 5 game losing run has been tough and not great to watch and has put us in a vulnerable position with only 4 games left. I think it has all stemmed from the FGR game and losing in the last second.

I've watched every single one of Liam Mac's games in charge and its obvious that their confidence is shot at. They weren't all bad players before this run and they aren't all bad players during it as you don't become a bad player overnight.

The calls for Liam to be sacked are ridiculous too. We have two games coming up in the next week so if you were to get a new manager then they would be in charge for probably the last 2 games of the season at a push which is stupid.

We need to focus on Friday now which is a huge game for us now. If we get a win and then go to Macclesfield and get at least a point we might be able to start breathing easier!
