I was impressed with Joel Taylor, the trialist who played left-back in the first half and was recently released by Stoke. He was quick and looked to get forward when possible and offers something different to Flanagan who lacks pace and in my opinion is best suited to playing centre half.

Very poor performance. Certainly can’t play like that if we’re to try and stay in this league. No stand-out players. Vaughan can’t be the first choice goalkeeper this season, he simply isn’t good enough. Very disappointed in Benbow who only seemed to have a handful of touches in the time he played before getting crumpled on the stroke of half time by their keeper for the penalty. Hylton, who I believe to be a great player, didn’t have much of an effect in open play, but did score a great penalty. I won’t give my opinion on Dapo’s performance just in case people get their pitchforks out.

Let’s hope Saturday was just a blip in pre-season and not a sign of things to come.

It was only a pre season game so i ent gonna have a moan but that was rubbish to say the least on Saturday if we play like that against Chester on the 5th then we will get beat quite comfortably. Most of the players we have won't last a full season they will start to tire half the way through. Can only see 1 outcome this season hopefully im wrong tho.

Crikey what a difference a week makes! Optomism completely gone?
I'm sure we lined up 4-3-3. And while people like formations with plenty of attackers, I really don't mind a 4-5-1. If we can co trol possession in the midfield and send players forward it always works out as more of a 4-3-3 when things are going well. Perhaps shep and Sammons as wide midfielders with Carline,Carter and Maye central could work. Always options from the bench.

Treat it for what it is - A pre season friendly and a lot of experimentation. Dont get downhearted.

Playing Tamworth away on a cold wet saturday with no points at stake and trying to avoid picking up an injury probably isnt the best motivation to players.

The team that I saw playing against Burton filled me with optimism and that without several players who could easily be in the starting X1 (Shep / Ash Salmons / Carline).

We have quality in depth that will allow the manager to ring the changes if need be.

Just need a central defender and a GK in my opinion and then I think that we will be far better equiped than last season.

If we are poor by the end of Sept then thats maybe the time to start worrying, but i dont think we will be.

Find it hard to understand comments, Green,
Carline, Flanagan, Shepherd, Salkon, Lait, Maye
not involved and Benbow starting his first
game for months, drawing against a team
that will be near top end of conference
north is not a bad result, give the team
a fair chance once everybody is back and
fit

Easy to understand if you were there. People say wow well done when it's good and that was pretty poor when its not. And that was pretty poor. That's fine. Blindly defending a poor performance is making a mockery of a football forum where people are allowed to give their opinions

I'm all for having opinions, we have a right to voice them. All I'd say is it's PRESEASON.
Vaughan not good enough due to him not being great at tamworth but in the other 4 games he's been excellent.
This is the problem most normal supporters have with opinions. The players had an off day, I said that but we have had a good preseason much better than last season and with so many missing I'm surprised we are still actually competing against some of the teams we've played.
It was a poor performance, I was there but to say he's not good enough and he's not good enough is stupid.
I can name world class footballers who don't play well all the time let alone Solihull players. Get a grip.

Rich I agree with you 100%. If we’re not allowed to give an honest opinion on a poor performance in pre season then surely we aren’t allowed to talk about how great a performance was in pre season, it works both ways.

Matty, if you knew me, you’d know that I’ve never rated Vaughan and I’ve said it on countless occasions, but it’s all opinion, and in my opinion he is not good enough to be our number 1 keeper, and that isn’t based on the Tamworth performance.
