Re: Maidenhead United v Solihull Moors 26/12/2017 updates

Look at the posts for the last home match mostly upbeat now look doom and gloom , you need to give the mark and Tim and Gary a chance to at least get us some points we showed some good movement yesterday and Jamie forced their keeper into a great save we all know we have problems scoring but goal scorers are very rare and command top wages we can only work within our means so let the managers manage and have faith or is all hope lost ?

Cuz its a waste of hard earned money. Watching players especially akwasi that dont perform and dont even look interested. Its like when you go to a restaurant. You want quality service quality food and drink. If its !@#$ then your not going to give them your money are you. Same with this you pay your money to see the team perform if their not performing week in week out then your not going to pay your money

Someone mentioned the directors not showing enough ambition - why would they continue to pour more and more money into the club when the home fan base hasn’t considerably increased in the higher league and presumably we continue to make a loss each week and month. I recall they asked for investment when we first went up and presumably nobody came in, hence Jed. I’d also disagree about the title winning team being allowed to breakup - the majority of the team seem to have ended up in Brackley, which shows they want to be part-time players in a part-time league. It may have been about money but seems to me to be more about life balance.

Agreed. Gaz Dean, one of our best players who won us promotion, left us for Brackley because of the life balance change he would have had if he had played in the National League.

So, we lost a great player because we won promotion. How ironic is that?!

If Hylton didn't get sent off against Tranmere then I'm pretty sure Assante would not have started. I don't think Assante on his current form will be staying past January anyway.

Just two points of contention here: the fan base, or at least the attendances, more than doubled to average over a thousand per game - no-one would have thought that possible two or three years ago.

The team was broken up using a combination of offering less money to stay, poor coaching and just leaving players out! Most of the players from Marcus' time would have walked through walls for him whereas they wouldn't walk through a doorway for LMcD.

Isn't supporting football, at this level at least, more about hope vs. expectation rather than seeing quality every time? If supporters only turned up for teams who were 'performing' week in week out then there aren't many places which would see a crowd. I think we can only expect them to try their best and if that's not good enough then too bad.

Sorry, but being the pedant I am I have to point out that there is no irony there at all. Possibly incongruous though.

Apart from say Assante, the rest of the team are trying for sure, how would you be feeling as a player with a 3rd manager in charge in the same amount of time, not easy I'm sure.

Has the attendance really increased that much or has it simply been boasted by the number of away fans at certain games? (Genuine question as haven’t looked at the figures). I know it was just before Christmas and we are bottom of the league but I think it was just over 400 against Boreham Wood, which tells me there still isn’t much appetite for the club locally and suggesting that the directors should be pouring in money to try and keep us in this league seem a bit unrealtisic to me.
On the players, we will have to agree to disagree.

Last season our attendances averaged over 1000 per league game and yes, they were undoubtedly boosted by away supporters. I've posted before that the only thing that will bring more fans through the turnstiles is a winning team. This season the attendances have dropped dramatically in line with our win rate, which I believe proves my point. Our average gate this season is 872 SEE HERE. Interestingly, currently, only Boreham Wood have a lower average gate than us and this season I am not seeing people that I regularly saw last season.
