Re: Dapo
Depends what he wants to do with his life really doesn’t it, not all footballers at this level want to go full time for a verity of reasons.
If full time league football is his goal he could do a lot worse than playing for Blues u23’s. Say what you like about the first team but the academy set up is top notch and does produce some fantastic players.
Dapo is a hard worker on and off the pitch by the looks of things and if he applied himself full time to football after his studies there is no reason he couldn’t play Championship/FL football in a few years time.

Re: Dapo
I agree with Crawshaw SMFC. If Dapo is to move on at the end of the season, it is vitally important that he makes the right decision with regards to his club selection.
As Omar did originally, he should maybe look at moving up one step at a time and ignore the Championship teams. Of course, it depends who come in for him, but I think a League Two side would suit him better where he can get a run in the first team.
For the moment though, he needs to concentrate on keeping us up and his studies.
I think some of the reporting that has been done is just lazy journalism with one story just being copied by another journalist.
Interesting that the Daily Star report about Dapo name checks Jed. This report having been by the same reporter who credited Jed with us staying up last season. Link: Jed kept us up

Re: Dapo
Interesting indeed Statto. Good spot.
Couple of questions, if I may.
Does Jed have anything to do with Moors still? Is he connected to agents and other clubs?
Will we get a sell on or development fee, should he leave due to his age?
More cheeky one, who is this sugar daddy discussed earlier, any ideas?
Edit... googled Jed and found rumours of his interest in Worcester Warriors RFC. Not having a pop at the guy as I genuinely know little to nothing about him. He does seem a bit of a wide boy though.

Busi - No Jed is no longer involved with Solihull Moors FC. I heard a rumour that is was advising people at Stratford Town but do not know how true that is.

Re: Dapo
Dapo is simply not good enough to play Championship football at this stage. Clubs at that level would be taking a cheap punt on the possibility of him developing in future, and he'd end up playing a couple of seasons on loan in League Two anyway. I agree that - if he is to move at all - he'd be better off going straight to League Two rather than going all the way up to drop back down.

Re: Dapo
I would not say that he is not good enough for championship football as he has proven the doubters wrong when he joined from the Midlands league, as same was said then. All depends on his willingness to learn and develop. I would agree that he might be better to move to League One as there isn't much difference between National league and League Two. I think he needs to be at a club where he can develop as he has the potential just needs to be managed properly. Playing Championship football might be a bit too early but definitely he has all the attributes. Nothing wrong in going to Championship club and been loaned out, that will be a good move in my opinion.

Re: Dapo
That's not really what I said, is it?
My point was he's not good enough for Championship football right now. If he was, he'd be ripping this league apart. He isn't, and his form for Moors is patchy. That's not to say he won't reach that level in the future; I definitely think he has that potential.
There is a big gulf between Solihull Moors and the top half of League Two. I think the FA Cup tie against Wycombe clearly demonstrated that.
As for his route forward from here, that's a matter of personal preference. There's a lot of benefit in going straight to the Championship and getting the quality of coaching, but loan moves are tough; it's a lot of adjustment to new environments all the time. Personally I think there is a lot to gain for players stepping up from non-league through getting the guaranteed game time of small steps forward over the course of 2-3 years to then reach higher levels when they're a more finished and proven product and more highly regarded by the bigger clubs.

Re: Dapo
MOOR5, we both agree that he is not ready for championship football. Your point of him ripping this league apart is debatable as i believe that if he is playing in a good team, he will be ripping the league apart.
A good team around you makes a lot of difference as you can see from the level of Nortei from when he was with us last year. Dover fans are saying he is their best player so far this season whereas not long ago he was been called out by some fans to be the worst player ever to wear the shirt.
Every sport man or woman goes through patchy period and should not be used as a yardstick to determine whether they are good enough or not. Take a look at Benteke and you will see that his stat is very poor, so this sort of patchy periods does happen in sports.
A good season long loan to a decent club is not a bad shout for players who are willing to learn and develop. Not a fan of one month loan here and there.
By the way, there will always be a gulf between Solihull and most good teams as we are a part time outfit. We are no match to even a decent NL team.
