RIP Ernie " Donkey Kick " Hunt - What unique goals have Moors scored ?

Ernie Hunt , who scored " Match of the Day's " most famous goals of the season - leading to a change in the rules - has died , aged 75.

After his team - mate Willie Carr flicked the ball up with his heels at a free kick with a " donkey kick ", Hunt volleyed home for Coventry City against Everton in 1970. The move was later outlawed.

What do you think has been the best unique goal, that someone for Solihull Moors, has ever scored ?

RIP Ernie - nice one. 👍

Anybody know why this “donkey kick” was outlawed? It’s just that same as laying it off to another player really.

Ball not deemed not to have travelled it's circumference ..which it has to do before being in play and able to be played by someone else

By using both feet, the player has touched it twice before a second player has touched the ball.

I’m not sure I buy that really, putting both feet on the ball at the same time is only touching the ball once surely?

I think it's the not travelling it's circumference issue that deemed it illegal.

Certainly the ball had to not only travel its full circumference in order to be in play, but also rotate the full circumference at the time. This was the law for all dead ball situations, including kick-offs, where the ball also had to travel forwards and that was only changed when players became so fit that they could intercept a kick-off before it could be touched by a second player of the team kicking-off as he wasn't allowed to touch it until it had rolled its full circumference.

That is why the centre circle was introduced.

The Ernie hunt type free kick was just banned as ungentlemanly conduct.

The goal stood on the day remember no actual rules were broken.

Bit like sticking the ball up your shirt and running in the goal with it.

Technically no rules broken.

Referee would just disallow it as ungentlemanly conduct.
