Re: Breaking news...the season is NOT !!! over
It may be unpopular (bit like Roj) but I think cancelling the season is the only realistic option. Expert advice is the virus may come back in waves (possibly 2 or 3), so it may not just be the current season.

I've heard this aswell. If our league is declared void tho does that mean we have to play in the Scottish cup again next season.
Hope not.

The critical point here is the level of readiness -- immunological, institutional, and cultural -- for each returning wave, not the arrival of the recurrent waves themselves.
I started writing a really long response, referencing historical experiences of plague, Spanish Flu, SARS, etc. to illustrate the point, but I don't think it's worth going there.
Suffice to say, this is defeatist nonsense that follows the same logic of all the people who want to infect themselves just to get it over with, and screw the rest. There's no law of nature that says we have to be equally vulnerable year on year. With the resources we have to hand now, we can plan far better next time, know the drill to go to straight away as soon as an outbreak occurs somewhere (rather than pissing about crowdfunding bongs while a huge city is in lockdown), and be well on the way to having effective tests and treatments deployed.
When epidemiologists say we should be prepared for waves of infection, they're using it as a rallying cry to be better prepared, not an excuse for eeyorish defeatism.

Re: Breaking news...the season is NOT !!! over
The problem is one of contractual obligations to Sky and BT. If the contracted games are not televised, the Premier League and its teams will be obliged to repay hundreds of millions of pounds to the broadcasters. There is the added problem of shirt sponsorship, many clubs are contracted to change sponsors at the end of June, so if the season carries on into July which sponsor's names will they wear, and although this might appear to be facile, the clubs concerned have signed legally binding contracts with new sponsors that are due to begin on the 1st of July and again could be worth hundreds of millions of pounds.

Re: Breaking news...the season is NOT !!! over
If no more football until August, I will feel very sorry for Barrow if they are not promoted. They have been by far the best team and Stevenage have been by far the worst team in League 2 and deserve relegation
But think the decision for our league has to be to start the 20/21 season with same teams as the 19/20 season started as that is what the other leagues must surely do.
I would, however, like Liverpool to be names as Premier league champions.

Re: Breaking news...the season is NOT !!! over
Maybe they should roll the 19/20 season over to the 20/21 season, like a lottery roll-over. I.e. start the 20/21 season with the table as it is now (points and placings) and add the 20/21 points total onto that. If Barrow can keep up their good form then they should still secure promotion at the end of that season... just another crackpot idea to throw into the mix.

Vomit inducing.
It's almost worth having Villa stay up for them to miss out on the Premier league. Horrible, deluded club.

I don't think that is a crackpot idea at all and should be considered so that all the effort put into most of the 19/20 season goes towards next season
