If it was my decision I would of been on the phone to joey barton weeks ago as soon as he left fleetwood. That's out of the window now as he's recently gone to Bristol rovers. My other choices would be either

Sol Campbell ( he deserves another crack at management)
Jimmy Gannon ( very experienced at this level)
Ian Holloway ( just for the funny interviews he would give)
Or a return for bignot. Although I don't think he'd come back.

You shouldn't consider gasheads at all and you've mentioned three. They are strange people who think the world owes them a living

I personally don’t think Barton would have dropped into non league, like the Cowleys I think he’s had a taste of league football and wants to stay there. Although I’d still pick up the phone to the Cowleys, if you don’t buy a ticket.....

A few people have mentioned Sol Campbell, bloke has a win percentage of 22%, not for me (I’m also very biased as I met him once and he’s was possibly the rudest man I ever met).

Holloway would be great for the post match interview/beer 😂😂

Gannon I wouldn’t mind at all.

The amount of people I’ve seen on Facebook, Twitter and here to a lesser extent wanting Flowers back boggles my mind a bit.

People have very short memories.

For me I think it's imperative that we bring someone in with experience at this level we've seen in Mcdonald and Shan how taking a chance on an inexperienced manager can fail. I'd possibly give Yates another shot but I personally wouldn't want Bignot or Flowers back.

I'd have flowers back as an assistant to mark yates. Wouldnt have him back as a manager

We'll probably never know but that is where the person making the decision has to be clever. I'm probably 1 of very few on here that would have wanted Barton anyway

100% this. After assisting in the great escape he peaked by leading us to our highest ever finish. From then on, results and quality of football went on a downward trajectory until he left. Since he left, he's done nothing to make him a more attractive option than he was at the point he left us. Granted Macclesfield was a train-wreck not of his doing, but he went into Barnet in similar circumstances to those when he joined Moors (struggling in the league, churning through managers and players, not much money to spend) and hasn't improved their fortunes one bit. If he was coming back to us on the back of a wildly successful stint somewhere else, then he would be worth considering. In reality, it would be like turning the clock back 12 months, and nobody wants to do that!

But:
Well if he can work a miracle and get a tune out of our current squad I would be happy to see him back here. I know all the "Never go back" issues but we are all saying experience in this league counts a great deal and I think we might have a more attacking and direct approach, with maybe a little of the keep ball, tippy tappy stuff we have just endured hanging over from the team's indoctrination recently.
Playing Devil's Advocate, me.

We need someone who can bring the best qualities of Flowers and Shan, and produce a team that can get the ball on the ground and play an attractive passing game, with a directness that creates plenty of goalscoring chances, and a physical presence that intimidates the opposition.

Is there a Timmy Shan around? 🤔

For all his mistakes as a player, I actually do like Barton. I just don’t think he would have moved down two steps and into non-league.
