I think that people need to be careful in spreading rumours of who we are, and are not, going to be signing from other clubs. There is always speculation, sometimes with no truth in the matter ie Kyle Hudlin interested by Manchester City last season.
Regarding Hudlin this season, there has been a lot of speculation about Huddersfield Town, but I will wait until I see anything on their official website.
Onto the players that have left, it is always interesting to see peoples view on this without anyone knowing our budget (see the baseball film Moneyball to see how budgets have to be worked with).
I would have liked to have seen Newton stay, but having only started 22 of 46 league and play-off games, it looked as though he wanted to start more games. It will be interesting who we bring in with both Newton and Rooney going.
After a very good first season, Cranston did not hit the same heights in his second season. Hopefully he will not come back to haunt us.
For the youngsters, Tom Allsopp, Melis Bushaj, Niall Clayton and Ben Usher-Shipway it will be more important for them to playing regular football at a lower level and get more experience of playing. Whilst not saying that any of them will get into the Football League in the future, they should take heart from Marvin Johnson who was let go in 2011 so he could get regular football with Romulus and has since made over 300 matches at a higher level.
Harry Boyes had a fantastic spell with us, but I do not see Sheffield United letting him stay with us but instead will send him to a League Two club (possibly Grimsby Town).
With those we have offered terms to, I would have no issue with any of these staying, however I do feel that McNally has become injury prone. If he can remain injury free he could become an asset and provide very good back up to Gudger and Howe.

I also don't think he's been allowed to run out of contract -- more likely his agent has refused talks in the hope of a big move.

Would love see Alex Reid back at the Moors. Not sure if he’s been injured but his last appearance for Stockport was in December. Might have fell down the pecking order with Woottons arrival from Notts County and other strikers in Madden and Quigley

New deals will be offered to the following players:
Jim Kellermann
and others. So it looks like no deal could be struck.
Also from the Chesterfield website :-
Akwasi Asante, Gavin Gunning, Laurence Maguire and Calvin Miller have all been made available for transfer.
