He has to do what's best for himself and his loved ones. Most of us would do exactly the same. I think it just came as a shock, since has beensuch a good player for us over the last few seasons - talismanic on the pitch - and was announced as having signed for the season. I don't think many people would have expected that he was only on non-contract terms, but if that was his preferred choice, there is nothing the club could do. I hope he has a great season for Kiddy - both he and they deserve to be playing at this level rather than below.nondisclosed_email@example.com (M00R5)Tue, 04 Jul 2017 23:21:53 +0000 Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p32048,from=rss#post32048https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p32048,from=rss#post32048Cigarette Bowl? Have you thought of patenting this creation Martyr? Despite this rather silly invention I was however interested in the problems Merthyr have had, fishing in a small pond like Moors have to for players. I know that at one time there was a Football League club in that town; are the present team a reincarnation, playing at the same ground? Returning to Liam Daly. I am pleased he will make the most of his skills and wish him good luck. It seems that Kiddie are moving forwards again, and I am pleased that is happening. nondisclosed_email@example.com (RoJ)Tue, 04 Jul 2017 06:03:28 +0000 Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p32038,from=rss#post32038https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p32038,from=rss#post32038Sorry to see him go, however Statto is bang on. When you've been watching NL as long as I have, it goes with the territory. Not to imply that Players are money grabbing - however, they are skilled at what they do, and therefore are entitled to maximise their income. Plus, one bad challenge could end it all. Nor is it necessary a sign of lack of ambition. Merthyr have to contest with the LoW, which seems cash rich at the moment. That said, the standard has improved markedly. The reformed Hereford - or Merthyr Reserves as we call them - are currently splashing the cash. They have the clout in terms of fan base, sponsorship, infrastructure, etc to do it. They have taken about half-a-dozen of the current Martyrs squad. I'm sure we did the same when we reformed. I'm not saying the current ownership do or don't have ambition - I've no idea. Simply, its the way of the world, so Live with it! Kiddy are still an established name, despite falling on difficult times. Unless they do a Worcester they'll be back - hopefully (for them) stronger. Personally, in my career (not to Roj - that's what people in the real world have to do to earn money, not being a drain on the economy faffing around showing young girls how to make misshapen cigarette bowls!) I've joined smaller organisations that offered me more money. As Gurd proves - size isn't everything! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have watched them for the past 6 years. Have had a fab time, met some wonderful supporters, officials and players. For me it wasn't about winning, promotions etc it was about the whole match day experience, for the first time in years I was attending games because I wanted to not out of blind loyalty. But in my view things have changed for the worse at the Moors, club officials are disconnected from the supporters which has nothing to do with the division the team is in or whether it's successful. I think the choice of manager was poor, the high turnover in players detrimental to the quality and spirit of the squad and the football suffers as a result. If decisions on the playing staff are financial, which I don't believe most were, come out and say so with facts, provide some transparency, engage the supporters. I watch football for entertainment and believe it will be better at St Andrews than at the Autotech so next season I'm switching to watching Blues and a handful of Moors games. At some point I'll probably reverse that because non-league football is fantastic. These are my opinions, I don't expect anyone to agree and I certainly don't have to justify where I watch my football, how I spend my money or my time to anyone on this site. nondisclosed_email@example.com (B93er)Sun, 02 Jul 2017 12:10:03 +0000 Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p31999,from=rss#post31999https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p31999,from=rss#post31999Message to Dales - Thanks to Dales for his efforts over the last four years for Solihull Moors. It has been a pleasure to see you in our colours and the picture of you lifting the Birmingham Senior Cup at St Andrews in 2016 will live with me for years. I will be honest in that I was not happy when Liam rejoined us from Leamington, having previously walked out on the club mid-season back in 2009. However, no-one can question your commitment of the last few years and I will happy to share a drink with you and your family and celebrate the good times that you had. For everyone else, this was a fantastic opportunity for Dales in terms of wages he will be given and it would have been incredibly difficult to turn down. It is not necessarily about Liam improving himself as a player. No offence, but at this stage of his career he is not going to get into the Football League. As Crawshaw SMFC states elsewhere in this thread, Dales has got about three years left him at our level. Dales will earn more money in the two years at Kiddy than he would if he stayed with us and we stayed in this division for three years. Re Liam being on a contract. He was not on a contract, because he wanted to remain on non-contract terms as it suited him more. Yes, I know he has signed a contract with Kiddy but he has refused to sign a contract with us for the last few seasons. We cannot force him or any other player to sign a contract, in the same way that Omari refused to have an option on his contract. In that sense, footballers rule the football club, rather than the other way round. As a club, we will just have to move on. I know that this season is going to be bloody hard. It would have been if we had kept Dales and Omari, but they have gone. End of. I look forward to the fixtures coming out on Wednesday and moving on with the 2017/18 season. If we survive on the football pitch, it will probably be the biggest achievement that we have ever done.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Statto)Sun, 02 Jul 2017 11:51:12 +0000 Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p31994,from=rss#post31994https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p31994,from=rss#post31994quote:B93er wrote: Great deal for Dales, well deserved, but gutted nonetheless. But generally I like sports that are competitive; I give you the All Blacks v Lions today as an example. Not tope quality but so competitive. I fear that Moors could become the whipping boys of the National League next season and I see little point in being there to see it week in week out. It seems that the club have discarded all of our squad and replaced them with who-knows-who they are. If this is to form a squad of players wishing to prove themselves above their present level then the likes of Liam Daly is vital to make a core. Let us hope Darren Carter can assume that mantle. LM and Simon Hawker are dealing with all the transfers and Omari was a great loss also. I believe Baxter would of come back and Regan was close also but communication broke down. I spoke to Omari on Facebook he only wanted a small increase and would of stayed but was told no increase was available. He was prepared to miss out on league football opportunities for another season to try and get his local side up. Plenty of players have left so surely the combined wages could of kept some key players with us. Roll on a takeover by a said local business man that wants the club to progress further into league football. This club has worked hard to get to where we are and it would be a shame if a few decide to not step aside and let experienced people take us forward. Football is a passion in your heart that controls your head,, why we love it. But Blues with Dirty Harry could only hope to build toward a Gary Rowett Blues. So that's 8-15th next season. And Villa, have spunked a few quid and some, with an owner that has ambitions of making Villa "one of the top clubs i. Europe in 5 years" I would rest my case there but... I started to favour the Moors down to the fact that it's a financial circus up there. Corporate, profligate and dillusional. Alienating and as long as you buy their product, their share price can hold until they either have a winner or can cash their chips in and move on elsewhere to the next pony show. We love football and let's back the Moors... whichever way it seems to be tilting .... Daly is a loss, no doubt But if Villa fans are rushing to see John Terry lead Villa to promotion (it's a maybe) and then suffer again with a decade or more where 6th place is amazing and less attainable than when it was achieved, but more likely relegation dogfights then fair play... If Blues fans think Dirty Harry is going to lead the Blues to 'glory' and the new Chinese Conglomerate (who seem even more opportunistic and shady than Xia) will help, then good luck too. More realistically, Blues will stay up, Villa may go up, Moors need our support.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Busi)Fri, 30 Jun 2017 23:58:06 +0000 Re: Liam Daly - SKIPPER GONE !!https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p31973,from=rss#post31973https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p31973,from=rss#post31973You lot all deluded by the 'Redknapp revolution' at St Andrews.
