Solihull 1-1 Gateshead
Unlucky not to win, after dominating the second half, albeit against 10 men. Gateshead tool the lead on 12 minutes courtesy of a penalty. It looked a foul to me, however from my position hard to see if it was inside the box. The visitors were then reduced to 10 men five minutes before the break for a second yellow - spot-on I'd say.
Solihull then equalised after 67 minutes following a deft flick header from Carter. The ref possibly playing advantage.
Despite all the possession the hosts couldn't find the winner. Possible shout for handball late on - would have been very harsh to me, as the Solihull player jumped - and missed - his header resulting in the ball hitting the arm of the defender. Not in an unnatural position to me.
Despite all the possession, still not enough from the forwards for me, and whilst its nice to see some intricate passing around the box, be great if someone took responsibility and shot!
Still, its a point.

Re: Solihull 1-1 Gateshead
Well summed up again by our resident match summariser, but I disagree about the no penalty decision regarding the handball though. The ball was struck well but from a distance, those would be given more often than not. So regarding the officials why do we end up with the below average ones who cant blatantly see when really required to.
Moving on to next week, I think Dapo is refreshed & ready to start against the O's.

Re: Solihull 1-1 Gateshead
Have to agree with BigWolf regarding the officials, they were beyond contempt. Gateshead's professionalism in regard to fouling was a masterclass, whereas the officials' inability to spot their illegality only leaves one with the question of how the !@#$ the officials have attained the level they have?

Re: Solihull 1-1 Gateshead
Sorry, I have to wonder what planet you are on. As someone who can watch with a degree(stress degree) of neutrality - you are frankly barking. They certainly aren't the best, but they are equally cr*p for both sides. If you want to check it out, go and stand at the away side of the ground.
Frankly, its getting embarrassing at the home end with some of the comments made. Totally get passion - however, if you want to be one eyed - go watch T******h! Some of the nonsense I've heard make Merthyr sound balanced! Thought this was a family club...
Ps. Martin - not aimed at you - you are brilliant!

Re: Solihull 1-1 Gateshead
Can’t fault the lads for effort today. First half thought we were 2nd best. Sending off was well deserved, why he kicked the ball away for his first yellow I’m not sure, 2nd was a stupid challenge through the back of Carter.
2nd half we did well but the movement upfront was average, nice finish in the end to equalise though. The disputed ‘penalty’ to me was stonewall, if the fullback leaves his hand out like that then he’s asking for it, lino games us f##k all allday
A lot of positives today for me but a midfield of Green, Carter and Richards is not good enough especially with Asante on the left.
However, onwards and upwards. KTF

Re: Solihull 1-1 Gateshead
1-1 was fair. We didn’t deserve to be behind at halftime, but Gateshead never really pressed forward so it was difficult to know how good they were.
The sending off - 2 yellows in 2 mins-was ridiculous and gave us a sniff like it did against Barrow.
Attendance was very poor -c530? Considering there must have been nearly a hundred from Gateshead that’s a pretty low turn out. I’m surprised I didn’t win the 50/50.
I’m not going to dissect the technical gaps in the team. They’re obvious. But at least Yates appears to have given us heart - two consecutive Saturdays where we have come from behind shows promise.

Re: Solihull 1-1 Gateshead
Think overall we deserved a win.
Officials weren’t great but they weren’t the reason we didn’t get three points - that was purely down to a lack of quality efforts on target.
Thought Asanti was a fish out of water today. He is a target man and needs to play the no 9 role. Hardly touched the ball in the first 20 mins. He then switched with Hylton and looked equally ineffective on the other flank.
Hylton looked busy and gave 100%. We over-rely on Carter and too many other players are ‘hiding,.
Either we play Asante up front with the new lad from Coventry in the number 10 role, or we play the new lad up front and use Dapo and Hylton in the 4-3-3/4-5-1.
The league table doesn’t lie.
8 points from safety, most goals conceded and only Guiseley scored fewer. Looking grim at moment I’m afraid.

Re: Solihull 1-1 Gateshead
I'm on planet Moors and proclaiming that the officials are crap for both sides doesn't make them any better and is akin to politicians ignoring the obvious by saying that as both sides are complaining they must be doing something right! I may be passionately one-eyed but crap officials are crap officials, one can only comment on what one perceives and my perception is that the standard of officials in this league is remarkable in its inconsistency.
