Rather than following on in the Maidenhead Away thread, I thought I would start a new thread.

This season has been a bloody nightmare from members of last years squad joining other teams without telling us, to having the home Chester game called off, sacking a manager and then his replacement lasting less than a month to the recent abandonment of the Tranmere game. Some of these have not been the fault of the club and in some areas we could have done better.

Ambition of the club / directors.

I am amazed that some supporters have questioned the ambition of the directors. Some of these gents have put shedloads of time and money into the club (probably more than they will let their wives and partners know), trying to get this club into the fifth tier of English football and to then stay there. Look at the ground improvements that we have done, just in an attempt to keep us at this level. Have they made mistakes ? Of course, they bloody have. They are human, but I believe that every decision made has been intended to have the best interest of the club at heart.

Players not trying ?

I am surprised at this accusation. If this was the case, then how come from the 17 league defeats we have had, 10 of them have been just one goal defeats. Not too sure how we managed to keep the games close if players were not trying.

Attendances dropping

Yes they have. Take away the Hartlepool attendance this season and we have an average of 714 at home. We have lost some supporters this season, but I also think the number of away fans has dropped dramatically as well. People feel disconnected with the players as we keep signing so many. Plus people want to watch a winning team. I agree with Bristol Bear in that if people went to games in expectation rather than hope, there would be a lot of empty grounds up and down the county.

The rest of the season - Plan for next season / survive this season.

If we do go down, then we will be in the National North. We would only go into National South if Brackley Town, Kidderminster Harriers and Leamington all left the National North and then it would still need both Kings Lynn Town and Kettering Town to get promoted to the North.

So do we accept relegation now and plan for next season? If so, we may as well release the non-contract players, pay up the contract players and save money for next season. Sorry, but I am not ready for that . We have worked bloody hard to get into this division, so let us fight to stay here, but not fight amongst ourselves.

We have 20 league games to go. Yes we only have 17 points so far, but we can still do this. Guiseley survived on 51 points, and that needs to be our aim. If we get to 51 points and we still go down, then do be it, but at least we can say we gave it a go.

Message to the supporters - Please keep supporting the lads from wherever you stand or sit in the ground. Keep the moaning and groaning for after the game in the bar, but please keep supporting the players when they are out on the pitch.

Indeed an excellent post. Some points.

Firstly the admission charges for the pre-season friendlies were too high, and were criticised at the time. We "voted with our feet" and simply did not go to any home pre-season friendlies. Personally I merely went to just the away match at Tamworth.

Attendances! Away fans attending were almost bound to fall. As a number of those reading this board will confirm, they like attending grounds new to them. So in the 2016-2017 season some away fans ticked our ground off their list, and so no longer feel any inclination to come to our ground again.

And add to that the Brexit effect, some people reducing their discretionary expenditure, to conserve resources, both home and away fans will fall away by a few percent.

And finally for us, the total chaos in the admin. about season tickets at the start of the 2016-2017, led us to the thought "never again", and thus we made no attempt to get season tickets for the 2017-2018 season. We simply attend if we are minded to on a match-by-match basis.

Well said Statto agree with what you say , dont want to be hard on some of our fans but I feel that they had their eyes opened it a cruel world out there.
Look at the midlands football a lot of clubs are not meeting what the home fans think they should be AFC Telford,Leamington, Nuneaton, Sutton, even Redditch and Stourbridge none of them are happy.
Chester and Barrow fans were expecting more but that's football.
Lets support the club and the team even though its hard now is the time they need our support.

Yes Statto, well done for placing your positive spin on things.

I also agree with line's points as there have been some self-inflicted wounds.

I'm hoping that 2018 is a better year for Moors, Blues and Bears (all of whom I have season tickets for), and even Merthyr in the hope that Martyr is encouraged to go to them regularly.

I do remember how badly some of the Season Tickets, especially yours, were handled in 2016, however there was a massive improvement in 2017 due to a change in personnel at the club.
