You are all wrong re Guernsey FC. They did not compete in the FA Cup or FA Trophy in 2017/18 and the rules of the competition state teams can only play in the 2018/19 FA Cup if they played in the FA Trophy or FA Vase the year before.

Completely unrealated but how did Man Utd get away with not entering the FA Cup some years ago then if they couldn’t then play in subsequent years?

Or does this rule exist because of that situation.

After winning the Champions League in 1999, Manchester United were invited to the World Club Championship in Brazil. Initially United declined to go, however they were persuaded by the FA to go as it would supposedly help with the bid from the FA to host the 2006 World Cup.

All worth it for that opening game against Necaxa. Sublime free kick to give the Mexicans a shock lead, Beckham sent off for a karate kick tackle, dodgy penalty against Silvestre saved by Bosnich, Ferguson sent to the stands for being a blustery Scotsman, Yorke misses a penalty, and after all that Man Utd equalise through a simple lumped long ball flicked on and Solskjaer crossing for an unmarked Yorke.

Great game of football. I turned 9 a few days later.
