Solihull Moors 3 Burton Albion 2
A good workout against a relatively strong Burton side and we gave a good account of ourselves Yussuf putting us in front to go in 1-0 up at half time and Carter also hit the post after his free kick came back off the wall.
Second half Burton equalised on 55 minutes and we had a disallowed goal for offside before taking the lead for a second time with a cracking 20 yarder from Jamie Osborne. Danny Wright added a third and Burton scored a second on about 75 mins.
We played some good stuff and will hopefully surprise a few teams who might regard us as cannon fodder.

Re: Solihull Moors 3 Burton Albion 2
Good to see Moors maintain their 100% pre-season unbeaten run and I’m also looking forward to seeing them stretch it further against Kiddy on Saturday. All good confidence building stuff for the rapidly approaching NL season. Was Jermaine Hylton on the bench tonight or has he been rested ?

Re: Solihull Moors 3 Burton Albion 2
Didn’t go tonight but it sounds a good win against a decent Burton side, shows that we can fight to close out a game and put chances away (something which we generally failed to do last year).
I don’t think anybody thinks we’re cannon fodder anymore, especially after the last of of the season just gone. Although most of the bookies have us as one of the favourites to go down... I dunno, but I think we’ll be alright (famous last words) with our core of players which is the strongest I think it’s ever been. A few shrewd loan signings and we should push for our first top half finish.
I’m actually being optimistic for a change

Re: Solihull Moors 3 Burton Albion 2
That was pretty much a Burton first team was it not? Would think most of those named in the XI today will feature heavily for them throughout this season. Brayford, McCrory, Allen, Turner, Fox, Bent, McCormick, Sordell - all regular starters at Burton.
Hopefully we'll be going into the Eastleigh game with a 100% preseason record and the huge amount of confidence that will bring.
(My bad, McCormick is on trial from Forest - but still a strong team)

Re: Solihull Moors 3 Burton Albion 2
Pretty impressive team display this evening. First time I've seen Boot, Gudger and Miller and all appear to be strong signings. Thought Williams had great game at right back, Ossie oozes class but the work ethic and desire throughout the team was first class, essential considering the quality on the bench has significantly improved.
Can't read too much into friendlies, how often successful pre-seasons turn into tough seasons and vice versa, but the signs are all positive :-)

Re: Solihull Moors 3 Burton Albion 2
On the whole I agree with the comments above that The Moors looked a cut above a strong, but lacklustre Burton outfit.
Moors looked as if they have worked hard on the training ground on defensive cohesion and look to have a game plan...which doesn't include 'hoofing'.
Ryan Boot, Alex Gudger and Danny Wright all look solid additions to the team and appear to have slotted in seamlessly.
One concern on the night was the injury to Jamie '12 inch' Reckord. He looked a bit forlorn as he came off. Hopefully, it isn't too serious.
I was struck by how many leaders there now appear to be on the pitch...and Tim Flowers rivalled Clive in the booming voice stakes! (Don't worry Clive, you're still the champ)
All things point to a solid season; but didn't we have a good pre-season in 2017?

Re: Solihull Moors 3 Burton Albion 2
First game back after the summer recess and I'm still honing the vocal chords, don't want to get throat strain or I could be out for weeks. Can't make Saturday so I'll train alone in the Brecon Beacons, where I'd hope to scare the raptors. By the time we get to the real nitty gritty I'll be up to speed and my booming will reach full capacity after a couple of outings.

Good to see Tim Flowers masterminded a victory over Nigel Clough.
