Against that background I cannot see how they can exercise the option to keep McCallum and make the move permanent.

As far as contracts ending in April are concerned, well, some might, but my understanding is that now we are fully professional, most of our players signed two year contracts in the summer or over the last few months, the likes of Storer, McCallum, Beesley and many others will remain on contract until the end of next season.

I hope the finances for the Rooney signing weren't dependent on us getting McCallum off the payroll at the end of the season!
The chairman seems like a shrewd operator, and has brought other successful parties on board, so hopefully he hasn't spread resources too thinly.
