Re: National league football suspended until april 3rd at the earliest
Some good news and some bad news
The good news is that what I'm hearing is that most leagues in Europe ie. Prem efl spfl serie a etc. Want to continue the season. I'm sure the national league do aswell. They have a target of all games to be completed by the 30th June.
The bad news is that the virus continues to get worse with another 401 cases alone today in the uk. With 71 deaths now confirmed.

Absolute shambles. I do think that by the end of this week though that the whole of Britain will be shut off and everyone told to stay at home.

I don't think shambles is the right word.
It's unavoidable, shutting the schools and pubs whilst still allowing supermarkets is going to do the square root of !@#$ all, and 20,000 would be getting off very "lightly" IMO.
68 million in population and infection estimates of 70% and an average mortality rate of 0.5% means over 200k dead.
Look after yourselves.

Re: National league football suspended until april 3rd at the earliest
It's madness:
A) to "advise" people not to go to pubs, restaurants, theatres, etc. rather than ordering a closure. Insurance is there for a reason. Let the insurers pick up the tab rather than leaving the businesses liable. They're not the ones who gambled and lost in this transaction.
B) to keep schools open -- therefore 1000+ people in close proximity -- while advising everyone else of social distancing.
C) to keep schools open while advising half the teaching staff to self-isolate due to pregnancy, asthma, diabetes, etc. -- plus to have two weeks off if they have symptoms.
The whole policy has been bonkers so far. I agree that, in ideal circumstances, a "herd immunity" policy is perhaps the most sensible long-term option. Unfortunately, leadership has been poor, and the brittle state of our public institutions at the moment means we're rapidly reaching the point where none can cope. Here's hoping the NHS doesn't reach that point within the next fortnight or so.

Re: National league football suspended until april 3rd at the earliest
It ' is ' Madness ( seen them twice 🎤🎶🎸🎷- once in Birmingham and once in London )...
Prefer ELO , these days.
But to say , avoid pubs , theatres, social gatherings etc etc , but then everyone is going to work and school as normal , is very hypocritical , to say the least.
My local pub was quite packed last night and so was my library.
At least Boris has introduced a 3 month Mortgage payment holiday and giving interest 6 month interest free loans , to help businesses keep afloat.
Seems alot of these viruses do originate from China e.g.Sars .
Just off to my local Coop, as all the shops were out of bread , yesterday. Toilet roll too - not Izol though.

Re: National league football suspended until april 3rd at the earliest
The madness continues. Loans are not the answer as all they do is create more debt, what is needed is a guarantee that payrolls will be met, that mortgage holidays will be interest free (at the moment that's not the case), that everyone automatically qualifies for statuary sick pay at the level of their average wage, not the paltry £94 per week, that renters will have their rent covered or a rent holiday to avoid the situation where a landlords can have a mortgage holiday whilst their tenants have to keep paying rent. All these measures, and more, have been enacted by other countries with smaller economies than ours.
Psycho is right about the numbers, they could even be higher. Testing must be a priority, and front line NHS staff and contractors (cleaners, etc.) need to be protected, you cannot deal with a problem unless you know the extent of it.
I have a personal interest as my six year old granddaughter was at a party at the weekend and it transpires that one of the other children has Covid-19. My daughter and son-in-law are both nurses and on or close to the front line. I'm in a "vulnerable" group so I've been social distancing for the last twelve days due to a dry cough, I don't think I've got the virus, as I don't have the relevant symptoms, but better not to put oneself or others at risk. My 70th birthday this weekend has also been put on hold but that's a minor inconvenience.

Re: National league football suspended until april 3rd at the earliest
Happy 70th Ojive. Now you will have your own shopping times at supermarkets as a present. I have plans for my own 70th in May but expect that will be cancelled as it entails travel, friends together and a pub.
Likewise I have been self isolating due to something that has made me ill, but no fever so I am guessing it is just a cold. I am starting to self isolate myself from the News as it is getting so depressing, an overload of Boris especially. My fear is that others who have nobody and no cultural interests (music, the arts, sport of course) at the moment will suffer mentally.
The only positive thing I can think of at the moment is that the planet is getting a holiday from our poluting ways for a while.
Keep safe everyone.

NASA posted satellite images of China before and during the lockdown there, showing the decrease in pollution over the major areas of population.
