The Chesterfield manager was having a gripe about having to play back to back three days apart and how unfair it was after their isolation. He mentioned shenanigans but wouldn’t say whether they were of the Moors or leagues making.
Personally in the present situation I think he should suck it up, all teams will have to compromise at some stage if we want to get through this season.

Thanks for the heads up on that Worf. I don’t normally listen to opposition managers after games but interesting what he said that having not played in 10 days and then playing the same team twice in three days, his team were at a disadvantage.

Just looked at the Chesterfield website and shows that their last game of 2020 was a FA Trophy game on December 19th. Their next game was against us on January 2nd.

Just checked our website and our last game of 2020 was a FA Trophy game on December 19th. Our next game was against Chesterfield on January 2nd.

So both teams had the same gap between their last game of 2020 and their first game of 2021. We then played the same team three days later.

He mentioned that he does not know why his team had to play the game so quickly when there are other teams with more games to catch up than Chesterfield FC. Yes, you idiot, we are one of those teams. The game we played on Tuesday night was the first of NINE successive Tuesday matches. When did this idiot think the game was going to be fitted in? It is not like we lost the match on Saturday and then challenged Chesterfield to a re-match on Tuesday night.

Yes I agree and he said he was harranged into it by one party and it wasnt the League.
Gosh, who does that leave, idiot.
Anyway I think his point was they were isolating in that period not training but, it's not unheard of at all in my day you played your rivals at Xmas and then the return on Boxing day... so up yours.

In the early days of the football league it was quite normal to play two matches home and away against the same team within the week. I suppose it would be preferable to have a bigger gap between the fixture to allow for changes in form, but to be honest they did a job on us at New Year with their snowy pitch and white ball, and knew they could press high and gain control in their attacking half with relative ease.
I diagnose that this manager is from Chesterfield which is practically Yorkshire so well practised at having a good moan about things. Gran was from Leeds so I understand the condition and like a bit of complaining myself.

A congenital and incurable affliction, presumably?

Ah, but is it that Chesterfield is practically in Yorkshire, or that Sheffield is basically in the midlands?

What a bunch of bullies we are, eh? First because of our shenanigans we conned Farsley into travelling, then we bullied them into playing on our artificial pitch, and now, because of more shenanigans, we bullied Chesterfield into playing three days after their (and our) last match, when they really needed some rest and recuperation, and people say Premier League players are pampered Jessies for complaining about fixture congestion. This is the life of a professional footballer at this time of year. As someone else said, local teams used to play each other on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, on frozen, snow covered or mudbath pitches, no underground heating in those days. In the big freeze of 62/63 football was postponed for the best part of three months with teams eventually playing three or four ties a week to catch up. No, I'm not proposing we return to those days but the life of a modern day professional footballer is a thousand times better than the "old days" and if they can't put up with a bit of disruption they should consider another profession, maybe one where they have to work outside in all weathers like a binman, postman or community nurse!

This is it, isn't it? Our club has been proactive about trying to get games played, and somehow that annoys other clubs when they lose. What would they rather? Meet back up in May for four or five games per week for the last fortnight of the season.

The Chesterfield will have said what he said and supporters of his team will just swallow it without taking into the facts as I said in my previous post.

The date of the rearranged game was made on December 23rd so it’s not as if we thought on Saturday night, let’s play them again as they are missing George Carline. As I say idiots.
