Lockdown laws extended until September at the earliest. Just a reminder that this is now the future.   nondisclosed_email@example.com (Smfc fildes)Thu, 25 Mar 2021 23:51:56 +0000 Re: This is never ending is it.https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57293,from=rss#post57293https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57293,from=rss#post57293This is another thing not helped by the government in how they have hyped up Oxford-AstraZeneca in particular as part of their own personal brand. The irony of course being that most researchers in biology and chemistry at Oxford seem to be German, Swiss, or Italian. Another great irony of the Oxford/AZ deal was that the university deliberately avoided a deal with GSK as they felt a UK-US partnership left their vaccine vulnerable to illegal seizure by the Trump administration. They thought a UK-EU production chain would avoid this...nondisclosed_email@example.com (M00R5)Fri, 12 Feb 2021 11:10:22 +0000 Re: This is never ending is it.https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57292,from=rss#post57292https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57292,from=rss#post57292I agree but many people seem to believe that the vaccine is, or will be, a silver bullet.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ojiveojive)Fri, 12 Feb 2021 10:33:37 +0000 Re: This is never ending is it.https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57291,from=rss#post57291https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57291,from=rss#post57291Contact tracing in Australia also doesn't just mean working out who a Covid-positive person has interacted with, but also trying to work back to where they got it from. Agreed that as we're already seeing there will be mutations that confound the efficacy of vaccines but the point has to be more resistance than an impossible level of immunity. Even where the vaccines aren't as efficient on the new variants as those they were developed for, they still severely reduce transmission and eliminate hospitalisation. If we can turn this virus into essentially a bad cold at worst, that's the game changer we need.nondisclosed_email@example.com (M00R5)Fri, 12 Feb 2021 10:29:33 +0000 Re: This is never ending is it.https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57288,from=rss#post57288https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57288,from=rss#post57288Fildes, this doesn't surprise me. As far as I can make out there has never been a vaccine for any type of corona virus that imbues long term immunity. The flu vaccine has to be rejigged annually because the flu (corona) virus, like all other known corona viruses, continually mutates. My daughter in Melbourne tells us that as soon as their latest outbreak happened in a quarantine hotel, the whole place went into immediate lockdown. Not tomorrow, not next week, immediately and I've just heard on the news that not only are we waiting until next Monday to start quarantining arrivals, but also we won't be as strict as they are in Australia, where they have to stay in their rooms and they aren't allowed outside, in our quarantine hotels people will be allowed outside as long as they keep to social distancing.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ojiveojive)Fri, 12 Feb 2021 10:05:56 +0000 Re: This is never ending is it.https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57287,from=rss#post57287https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57287,from=rss#post57287In fairness, Fildes, I would rather wait and be sure everything is in place to begin removing restrictions than go too early again. The whole reason we are in this predicament a third time over is because the government delayed enforcing lockdowns then rushed out of them too quickly without adequate protections in place, allowing new variants to develop here undetected and arrive from elsewhere unchecked. We have a real opportunity with the speed we are vaccinating at the moment and the best way not to screw that up is to be cautious about how and when we ease off restrictions. Not to mention the fact that nothing will truly be over until everyone on Earth has some sort of resistance or immunity. We have to be patient and do our best not to put ourselves or others at risk, just as the government is now doing its best on vaccines but needs to do much better on pretty much every other aspect of its pandemic management.nondisclosed_email@example.com (M00R5)Fri, 12 Feb 2021 09:56:10 +0000 Re: This is never ending is it.https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57285,from=rss#post57285https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57285,from=rss#post57285https://www.google.com/amp/s/news.sky.com/story/amp/covid-19-restrictions-could-be-in-place-until-all-adults-are-vaccinated-expert-warns-1221557 Keep changing the goal posts they do. We're gonna be in this for ever They clearly said that when the elderly and the vulnerable were vaccinated then we would start to see a gradual return to normal life. Now they are saying the whole population needs to be vaccinated and that we have to wait until the autumn. It's a constant cycle. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Smfc fildes)Fri, 12 Feb 2021 00:36:23 +0000 Covid threadhttps://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57266,from=rss#post57266https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57266,from=rss#post57266Nnondisclosed_email@example.com (Smfc fildes)Thu, 11 Feb 2021 01:18:07 +0000 This is never ending is it.https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57216,from=rss#post57216https://bsolihullmoors.runboard.com/p57216,from=rss#post57216 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9239863/amp/Britain-trapped-lockdown-cycles-YEARS-SAGE-scientist-warns.html https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.rt.com/uk/515044-coronavirus-mutation-lockdown-sage-years/amp/ nondisclosed_email@example.com (Smfc fildes)Wed, 10 Feb 2021 00:30:09 +0000
