Solihull 0-0 Yeovil
A streetwise Yeovil took a point against a Solihull side that, for some reason, seemed a little off the pace to me today.
The game is unlikely to linger long in the memory, with few chances on goal. Probably the most memorable events were the two red cards - one given to Cranston for what looked an innocuous handbags on the sideline - still, I suppose of you raise your hands these days... The Greens then evened things up shortly after - less disputable this time, as the last man took one for the team. That said, the attacker did look offside to me. The reduction in players - combined with some generally positive substitutions - did at least seem to stimulate both sides into a more attacking frame - with the hose side finishing particularly strongly. Still, it wasn't to be.
Perhaps the players had one eye on next week:
Sbarra in particular did not seem to be his usual dynamic self.
Good to see a decent crowd, with a number in Halloween fancy dress. Indeed, I applauded Roj on one of the ugliest and scariest I'd seen... - until I realised he wasn't wearing a mask!!!
Looking forward to the awayday oop Norf next week!

thought we probably deserved to win the game even if we were not really at the races today.
I felt that when we were attacking it felt like a training drill where you have to do a certain amount of passes before you can shoot as it looked like we tried to make that extra pass instead of maybe testing the keeper which was something we didn't do today.

Surprising that we are so high in the league considering that we have had so many not at the races games.
Get the impression that we have just about done enough and had a bit of luck along the way.
Imagine where we would have been with a few more games where we played at our full potential.
I reacon we would be clear at the top.

The Cranston sending off was a mistake from the referee for me. Having watched the entire incident unfold from the Yeovil player lashing out at Cranston to his retaliation, it should only have been a dual caution or a dual dismissal.
Otherwise, we didn't create enough good chances today to win. We're an instinctive forward and smarter attacking tactics away from being a top National League side.

... I find Ardley's obsession with picking a formation to counter the opposition extremely frustrating ... it's a negative tactic which seems to be don't lose .... rather than picking our best side and having a plan to win .... Yeovil came to stop at all costs, time waste and use long balls and throws to nick a goal .... while we stuck nine players behind the ball .... and fired high balls to our 5ft 8 lone forward ....

Didn't really enjoy yesterday. Especially being made to stand with them mouthy children in the second half. Not felt too good today either. Hope none of them have gave me covid.
Anyway back to school for them on Monday.
Also would like to apologise to statto for the little disagreement at half time regarding the segregation. Didn't mean to piss you off.
The result was fair in my opinion. Ref never had the best of games either.
