No football to talk about...

So an off topic question from elsewhere:

What do you think is the most over-rated Album from the last 50 years. I have been shocked by how many of my favourites have cropped up on the list. Worst choice, "Dark Side of The Moon", how could they!

For me it could be more or less anything by The Beatles, so will offer "Rubber Soul", although I did have sympathy for the bloke who posted "Thriller" as his choice.

No!

I am refining my choice to anything by Wings, especially if that one with the bloody bagpipes cropped up on an album.
(for those under 25, an album is like downloading a whole bunch of tracks but on a flat, usually black piece of plastic, or small shiny disc).

The Beatles would have to top the list of anything overrated.

Oasis must be pretty high up there in those stakes as well.

Had the misfortune to see Aerosmyth at The Odeon in the 70s; truly awful. Pink Floyd at Colston Hall 1970, great, but that was a lifetime ago.

The Doobie Brothers

Ronnie Montrose

The Eagles

Van Der Graf Generator (I once got into trouble telling a promoter that the reason there were hardly any punters at the gig was that all their fans were sat at home reading maths books)

Kraftwerk

Altering the thread slightly.....the greatest live performance I have ever seen , was the original Quo line up at the Odeon in the mid 70s....I have been hooked on 8 bar boogie & 3 chord music ever since.

The best ever gig i went to was the sex pistols at the old carling academy in dale end back in 2006 i think. The place was just rocking as it was their first gig in the city for decades. Lydon came on sage and went "allo zulus, allo villians... allo wolves!"

green day earlier in the year was quality too, non stop sweat fest for 3 hours.

Sex Pistols would have been a good gig.

There was a gig at the NEC perhaps 12 years ago with Uncle Eric (Clapton), Joe Cocker (great blues voice) and this band I had never bothered with called ZZTops: Both the first too were good but ZZ were one of the best live acts I have seen, ever, and no one was more surprised than me.

Band I most looked forward to seeing who did not disappoint was the 1971 Stones tour.

Been shopping for Mrs RoJs's Xmas present and inevitably the first shop I went into was piping that awful "Mull of Kintyre" thing!
